what should be done with the ring afterwards?
I believe the spell is enchanting the ring. You should wear the ring because it's a charm to attract the person toward you [though how well this works depends on a bunch of stuff. Two major ones are if you charge enough energy and set your intention correctly. Another is if there are any blocks in your way. Say you're married, that might prevent a new lover from finding you]
