You can absolutely have a digital BoS. I personally prefer that over physical ones, since you can store it, access it, and hide it easier. I recommend using Microsoft Word for documenting all of the information you need.

Yes you can choose to keep a digital Bos. You can also call it whatever you like. If you prefer journal or Bos is up to you.

Personally I do have previous notebooks filled with spellwork, uses for herbs or crystals, and tidbits I've researched.

For a year now I haven't used a Bos. I don't have space currently for the books.

I write spells up when the need arises, and still research. Yet I actively practice more memorization skills.

I say this to emphasize that if one wishes to practice without a book at all one can.

It's a wonderful tool to have. But doesn't have to be a necessity.

If you like to have one that's great too.

Honestly, you can use anything as a BoS. If you want it digital, you can use digital if you wish to it physically, you can use physical. Whatever is easy for you, I have two, one is physical, and one is digital. I keep my digital one on my phone for easy access since I carry my phone everywhere, and my physical stays at home.

Digital's becoming more popular [I think there are apps for it now] but I would advise creating a backup for obvious reasons. A BoS is simply a journal of your journey with helpful information, so you can make it however you want. There's no rule saying it has to be a certain way.

Since I had a small stroke a number of years ago it became very difficult to hand write a BOS. So I keep mine digitally. However, I also keep a hard copy by printing off the entries in my digital version and putting them in a leather binding. Unless you are in a particular Tradition that requires you to keep a physical BOS do whatever seems best to you. There are no BOS police to tell you you are wrong.
