Book of shadows+ Grimoire

Hello everyone, I've begun assorting my book of shadows including in it a Grimoire as well. I've already written some ideas for spell casting and I plan to place more ideas. I'm wondering if I should cast a charm on it to "protect it" so to speak, from those who would misuse it. A charm or spell that would keep it from being seen by people who shouldn't see it or to keep it from those who would use it for personal gain or to threaten others. How do I go about placing a charm on it.let me know, will ya' please.

The easiest way you could stop others from finding it is just to hide it in your room in a locked drawer or something. A book of shadows is kind of like a witch's diary, it just includes stuff they found interesting or useful.

If you want magickal protections you could simply draw a sigil on the cover (which is also a good topic to add in the book, a guide on how to make sigils)
There are many ways to make sigils but I'll use my method as an example as it's simple to explain.

First, write a sentence of what you want to happen. Write it in present tense, as if it is currently happening. This is because if you write it in future tense it could happen anywhere I the future, maybe even a billion years and if you write it in the past well then it wants to happen in the past lol.

Example: My grimoire is safe.
Now cross out all the vowels
: My grmr s sf
and finally, cross out all double letters so you only have one of each.
: My grm s f

Now that you have your letters, draw a symbol with them. Overlapping lines is ok, you could use the letter "g" as "g", "y", and "r" all in one. You also don't have to keep them capital or lowercase, as long as it is still the same letter.
Once you have that done you have an uncharged sigil. Now you gotta charge it with energy.

You can charge it with any method you want to, just use the method you usually use to charge your favourite spells (I personally use energy work and visualise the energy flowing into the sigil to make it glow).
Charge it until you feel like it is charged enough. There might be a specific feeling, there might not. Just do it until you feel ok with stopping.

Now you have a charged sigil to protect your Grimoire, good job!
Hopefully this helps ^^

I cast curses on mine. Anyone who touches one of my books lands in hot water. I've watched it play out once, and was content with the results but upset that someone had been in my things. Walking out of the store with my new book, before I'd written anything into it, I spoke to it directly and let it know that no one was to touch it without my express permission and then spoke a litany about what should befall anyone who chose to touch/open it anyway.

It's wise to bless your tools with a simple "You are *blank* and will be used for *intention*" not only to imbue them with magickal intent but also to add a bit of spiritual significance to it [and it's always wise to cleanse your items since who knows what energy they picked up before you acquired it]

A simple blessing would work. Something as simple as writing your magickal name on the first page, naming the grimoire/BoS, writing an enchantment, drawing a sigil/seal or simply holding it and saying "This grimoire/BoS will be my companion on my path. It will contain my knowledge of my craft." A protection like an invisibility spell would be wise if you live somewhere you need to stay in the broom closet and worry about prying eyes.
