Necromancy: Good or Bad?

A while ago, I was afraid to describe myself as a "Necromancer", just as a modern age Wiccan would be afraid to describe themselves as a "Witch". But, as I learned more from the spirits and people I met, I find nothing wrong with calling myself one. All I have is an affinity to Death.. No harm in that, right?

Anyway, I wanted to hear other's opinions on what Necromancy means to them. Maybe even if they have any personal experiences with it, or if they know someone who practices? Either way, feel free to post wherever and whenever. Thanks.

Ello, I am a little unsure of what to believe on the subject.Not just because of what ive heard but also because of my exeriences with spirits. when i was little i saw ghosts.A lot of them good ones bad ones, and i told my grandparents/legal guardians and they thought i was crazy.After that i suppresed most of my abilities. Now im trying to get in touch with it again, but im in a new house and the spirits are different, and there is a very dark spirit that is a young girl. She appears only in physical type form once a year which is around halloween. Im actually scared of her sometimes but it seems that she cant's enter my room all that well...Over all i want to research it a lot and maybe give it a lot a lot of thought before i give it up.

Oh and another thing dont know if this has to do with anything but i can kninda tell when someone is getting sick, or when they are about to die...only if they are close to me though.

You mean necromancer as in someone who raises dead spirits and animates corpses right? I am an aspiring necromancer in that aspect. But I don't think one should use necromancy for evil, or too much.Only to get information and to save lives.

Not accepting someone comes from nothing else than from lack of understanding and knowledge. Necromancy is not bad. Even death itself is not "bad". You must never care about what others think, if it feels right for you, and you feel good doing it, than do it.

OpenEyes, I've had the same problem.. Almost exact same problem.. Only thing is, I started telling them (hard-core Catholics, none the less) that I was seeing demons. I'd get used to certain spirits being around.. But there were other, darker ones (as you described the little girl). I started to associate them with the archetypal demon, and then I got stuck in counselling for about a year..

But, I guess i had good luck. ^_^ One of the counselors is also pagan, and understood exactly where I was coming from.

I guess the point is, don't give up, do your research, and keep yourself safe.

(PS: I was talking about Necromancy as in the "Talking to the shades of the dead" aspect, and though I personally find raising corpses morally wrong, I know it requires a lot of energy.. And that energy has to come from somewhere, hopefully not you, 'cause to bring back the dead, you need to provide enough energy to sustain and restart life.. Basic physics: Any action has an equal and opposite reaction. If you have the action (death), than the equal and opposite would be life, meaning it might cost you your life.
And I personally don't think that the Earth would provide the energy for that.. It just got their energy and turned it back out to a new life. There's only a few options as I see it: The Universe (BIG store of energy, if you can access it.) Demons (Could have negative repercussions) Divine Intervention (If it happens, than maybe the person wasn't supposed to be dead after all...)

Anyway, I don't mean to discourage.. Just be careful and study before doing anything serious.

There's nothing wrong in any magic as long as you do it right, you can't hurt anyone or else kill anyone. Necromancy is either good or bad depends on the person's intention of using the spell.

I did read up about it once and all it said was tha it was comunicating with the dead and harming others. It even said that the heling spells took as much health from one person as you healedanother. (Example) If you managed to heal someone near death someone elses healht would be taken putting them near death. I quit reading after part of it becouse I'd seen enough to know that that is not something I would want to do. So from that I would most indefenently say that if unless you enjoy harming people and disturbing the dead you shouldnt do it.

There is no "Good or Bad" in magic. Only positive or negative intent.

If you are not attempting to cause(Or accidentally causing)harm, then you have nothing to worry about. Just remember to keep in mind the Three-fold Law.

In short: Harm ye none, do what ye will.
