Magic has no colour!

To be frank, I'm tired of people educating on this subject. It does not make you look smarter, it just looks like you're copying what every other typical witch will say.

All too often, when somebody will post a question about black magick or white magick, many people will completely ignore the question and go off on a tangent about how it's all in the intent of the caster. We know this already, so please stop. Usually, when referring to black magick, we are naming it so to colourise our intent, not the magick itself, to avoid any confusion. So please, I implore you, stop pratting on about it.

I agree, magic has no color, but people name types of magic as a color. Such as earth magic, green magic. White magic, protection magic. People just use the names of the color to represent what kind of magic they are doing. But I'd like them to say 'Protection magic' instead of 'White magic' I really hope this made sense and I really hope I don't sound dumb, my head hurts a bit right now.

Okay, maybe not exactly. People can say healing is both green or white magic, so I think its best to just say what kind of magic it is.

I agree. I see no harm in refering to categories of magic by their "colors." No biggie. I cringe too every time i see someone schooling another on how "magic has no color blah blah."

It is human nature to categorize things, make them more understandable, and if someone wants to use a color system in magic, no harm done in my opinion.

Within the magical community i'm a part of there has been efforts to stop the usage of the term "dark" to equate with bad/harmful magic or "light" to equate with positive and helpful magic. Totally different rant/topic, i know, which goes to racial bias, colorism, etc.

We instead try to use descriptors like: healing magic, money magic, cursing magic, stop gossip magic, love-drawing magic, etc., but no one would ever be given a hard time for using the terms white or black magic - we all know what ya mean anyways.

Not exactly.
Often times people even confuse the terms black magick and white magick. It is a common misconception that black=evil and white=good.

As I said in another thread just recently, magick isn't evil or good. It is how it is used, it's all in the user.
White magick can be used for evil just as black magick can. The only difference between the 2 is the number of people the spell or ritual is used to effect.
People, quite often, do not know this and will challenge that piece of information.

I agree with the 2 above this post that there should be no problem with adding color to magick. It is only given to make things ore simple to understand and frankly quicker to write. ;D

We're helping it one lesson and one post at a time LdyGry. :)

"Black magic" is a hex breaking form of magic because black can be a representation of it. Therefore everyone who does a curse breaking spell is using a form of "black magic".

I am a firm believer in that magic(energy) has no color but you can describe different types of magic using color, content, and desired outcome.

I can see how it is confusing for many about this. I think the problem is the fact that the term "black magic" is misunderstood.

I use "black magic" but I do not think I am evil. I am sure though there are those who would say I am.

I wouldn't consider myself evil either, but I would say I am morally deficient.

I'm also a big believer that all judgements are between you and God/dess/the Universe/whomever. It is not my job to determine what magic may or may not be justified. I leave morality judgements to Diety.

Sweetness! This is why you are my sister LdyGry :) I agree with you that no one is to judge us karmically except the "gods".

I just hope more come to the understanding of this ;) *Starts to go to her happy place*

I agree with LadyGry on this as well. It seems most rational and open minded.
