Thy will be reborn into magic past the tale
Of which the hero prevails without sense
I ask of you, goddess of magic and the mist
Please allow me to unlock my hidden power
So mote it be!"

There are a couple of things about this working that feel incomplete, or born from some level of mis-understanding. The main one being that magic 'power' (or powers) does not come from any one act, dedication, or even deity. Magic is a skill, and like and other skill it comes from practice, learning, and understanding.

Hecate is a goddess, and her associations were indeed tied in with magic as she 'presided' over it. But she didn't grant or control magical forces. By the stories I know of (of which there aren't many where she played a significant role) her attention and actions tended towards providing light (guidance), making and breaking illusions, and crossing veils-particularly traveling into and out of hades.
