To invoke a spirit you first need to have the reason why you are invoking the spirit or spirits. On Halloween I imagine you want to invoke the spirit of a god that has to do with death and rebirth? Hecate is a favorite to invoke this day. I would do some research on the spirit you wish to invoke and have what you want from the spirit clear in your mind. Cleanse yourself with sage smoke or take a bath to rid yourself of negative energy before you start. You may want to wear clothing that is special to you or go skyclad. Remember to see in your minds eye what you want to accomplish, meditate before or while you invoke and always remember to give thanks to the spirit for their help.

Lol if you didnt know Skyclad means naked. I was also wishing to invoke the Goddess Nyx on this day because the lones between this realm and the next are blurred during this day. Be careful if you are going to go through with it. The line between the Ethereal and Physical are blurred that day and although you might invoke the spirit you was hoping for, something else may follow it.
Contacting those who have passed on and you have a personal connection to is what the day is all about. The veils between the worlds/planes are at their thinnest on Halloween. This makes it easier to communicate with any and all spirits.
You still have a personal relationship with them, you are part of their blood line. Any ancestor can be contacted it just helps to know their name, possibly what they looked like (a picture or the picture of them in your minds eye), or have a personal item.
