Herbal Interests

Hi.

I am curious about our herbal interests these days.

Are there any herbal interests any of you have had lately? Any projects you are currently undertaking?

Lately I have been making my own plant and oil based cosmetic products, some programmed with magical intent.

I have made attention lip glosses and perfume. I have made therapeutic lavender body balm.

Lately I have started making hair oils for neck, scalp massage and hair conditioning. I made up a winter blend that smells warm and spicy, woody with a hint of vanilla. The scent is reminiscent of the winter season. I am looking soon to make a SpringSummer scent that hopefully will be a little lighter and airy. Floral.

What I am starting to really want to pursue is plant and oil based soap making. I have made some when younger in the past but I forget the process and wish to try again. I will have to do some research on recipes and ingredients and gather materials.

What about other posters? Any interests you wish to start or have started that use plants?

I am also adding in another natural tea to try for Spring, a tea made from a nearby shrub. It utilizes the petals which are edible yet slightly bitter. I have already identified properly the plant and which parts are edible and some of its other uses, external skin care.

Any plans or interests related to herbal and plant remedies this year?

Attention lip glosses is supposed to read attraction. I've no idea why autocorrect seems to think it knows better than I what I mean by something.

Not too long ago my wife and I were playing around with soap-making. We were just using the pre-made 'melt and mix' stuff because we are too new to play with caustic, but it was still fun to put together some power cleansers.

My personal favorite was a shea butter blend, with dragon's blood resin, crushed up sage, a hint of tea tree scent, and a pinch of cinnamon. I discovered little sage bits have just the right amount of scrubby-ness for exfoliating too, just be mindful to keep out stem pieces, they can be a bit sharper than ideal.

Thanks Spirit.

Your soap sounds quite nice!

I intend to make up a blend using a pre-mix goats milk base, in Autumn or late Summer. I am waiting for rosehip plants in the area to blossom and produce fruits as these are ingredients I intend to use. I intend to make another blend as well that utilizes cinnamon, a winter blend based off the scent of my massage and hair oil I call warm noel. I will probably order the pre-mix and molds around Autumn. My space is way too small to be dealing with lye.

As always I love growing and harvesting some of my own herbs. Just today I picked a sprig of catnip to offer Sekhmet, the Egyptian goddess, as I am healing from yet another battle during this ongoing pandemic. I am also utilizing essential oils of frankincense and lavender to combat the onset of another respiratory illness. Eucalyptus and peppermint oils help to clear the airways and flush the lymphatic system as my body fights the germs and allergens that have triggered my immune system response to the change of the seasons. It's a scary time to have preexisting reparatory issue but I find that pocket full of posies to actually help.

Many Blessings

Katie

I have been craving to try again to make a homemade cleansing spray, I have made sprays in the past but used lemon grass, and I'd like something which smells a little different.

I intend to pick up the essential oils tomorrow. Here is hoping I find what I'm looking for.

For respiratory issues I burn a little mullein flower, and do a yoga exercise I built around the upper respiratory area.

A spiritual cleansing spray, and I will not be needing 25 drops, as I am only making enough to fill 1 to 3 spray bottles. I may make more than one to gift to others if I feel it comes out nice. I will be making them bottle by bottle. 25 drops a bottle of each oil will be too much.

Thank you for your comments.
