jethro,

What did you set up your altar for, a goal, ideals, Gods, Ancestors?

And on what you should do depends on what you need, want and how you plan to go for it. I work with Hades so I try work with things that relate to him the most. I work with divination, spells and a few rituals and not everyone needs to do a ritual every full moon and stuff. Do what you can do and do not let others tell you have to do these amazing acts or practices to be consider a witch. It is just not true. I am not saying that people are saying this but recently. I have gotten a lot of e-mails in people distress of not being a good enough witch or pagan.

Good luck and if you have any questions message me.

So an altar was originally sacred spaces to do worship, sacrifices, and spells to a certain divine being. But saying you want an altar for spells, you can add different crystals and rune symbols to help your spells and for protection when casting spells or working with different things (at least that is something I would do). I would even add some things I find myself working with a lot when casting spells. These are just some things I would do.
