An alternative to spotting empaths

  • Worn out if no wards are used, seemingly indifferent if they are
  • Can always relate to people, whether they want/like to or not
  • May not be the best at conveying words, but understands anyway
  • May be grumpy and avoid certain crowds or individuals

In my experience, they aren't all as noble as what is stated above because not everyone chooses to be an empath. Some people embrace it, yes, but others have to cope with it and it's good to recognize the diversity in the application of a single label.

How to spot a metalhead:

  • Black is the color of their clothes...and possibly their soul.
  • Band t-shirts, they have them, the more the better.
  • They have the radio in their car preset to all the rock stations.
  • Might cringe or get uncomfortable wish girly lovey songs.
  • Anything angry is good. Smash shit, break crap, SCREAM!
  • You have probably air guitared or hair flipped at least once, don't lie.
  • You're able to name an exorbitant amount of bands, many of which nobody has heard of but you.
  • As a part of the alternitive scene you've dyed your hair, have tatts, or piercings. Heck, you might just have all of the above! Or massive envy of those who do.
  • Some of the metal you listen to isn't even in English. Yeah, you're so hardcore buddy.
  • You probably like Metalocalypse...like you've seen every episode. It is most brutiful.

How to spot a weeb/otaku/gamer/nerd:

  • When you ask them how they are or what they did today the answer is almost always the same. "Video games and anime, what else?"
  • When you look at their wardrobe you notice a lot of anime shirts they bought online, from conventions, or likely at Hot Topic. They also have a few anime hats and other accesories. In fact, they probably have a cosplay or two.
  • They are deeply invested emotionally in characters both in video games, anime, and the ones they create themselves for stories or D&D.
  • They know a few words and phrases in Japanese because of the extreme amount of anime they have watched over the years.
  • When you ask them where they want to eat, the answer is always Japanese, Chinese, Korean, or otherwise Asian food.
  • Yes, they do know where most of the Asian markets are in their town and have been to them at least a few times by now.
  • They are so deticated to their favorite games/animes they will buy everything it comes out with, even if they hear it's bad. Final Fantasy everything! All the Sailor Moon!
  • When you go into their house the first thing you notice is all of their action figures, wall scrolls, posters, plushies, mangas, and other weebly things in their home.
  • They know how to sing a lot of their favorite theme songs...in fact, the really impressive ones even know how to do so in Japanese!
  • If you ask them their favorite shippings...you will be there for hours. They have one for like everything and indepth answers for why this one makes sense and that one doesn't in their opinion because backstory, combat styles, etc.
  • When asked their favorite game/anime you'll get a lot of responses because it's impossible to pick just one and even if they had to it would be very difficult and require a lot of thinking before they could give you an answer. Prepare to hear every game/anime they have ever watched since childhood and their opinions and comparisons on them.
  • They know the ins and outs of a lot of games...and when you ask them how they got so good they sound like a grandpa tellin' you, "sunny I've been playing this since waaay back in the beta. I was the hipster who liked this before it was cool! I played this game when there were only like two towns and three classes. Why, back in the day we didn't have these fancy teleports...we had to walk everywhere and it put hair on our chests. Damn nooblets don't know how good they've got it!"
  • They also probably listen to anime soundtracks and nightcore while gaming and sing along. Aye aye aye, you're my little butterfly~~ [insert dancing pikachu video]
