May Day By: Brysing Moderator / Adept Apr 30, 2015

Happy Beltane to all our members! Here in England Beltane used to be celebrated on the Sunday nearest. In old times, the actual day was celebrated. Now the celebrations are on Monday which is a Bank Holiday. Oh,dear! First the Catholics stole it; then the damn politicians changed it to Labour Day.
Today will be my first time celebrating. I'm going to take a walk around a few local parks and appreciate the beauty of nature all around me. Then I'm hoping to mediate beside the creeks, find some natural treasures and leave behind offerings to my Goddesses.
I'd love to spend the day with my bf, but he works from 5AM - 7PM.

Nekoshema, originally the celebrations were from dusk on the 30th to dusk on the 1st of May. It wasn't a holiday as we think of it today. Holiday meant Holy Day, and early Christians were expected to attend Mass on that day. Pagans had other ideas! It was a day of "rest", meaning what we would today call "snogging"!
