I think you should implement the posting approval system such as on closed facebook groups. That way every post has to be approved by a mod before going on the forum.

but there is the drawback of time. the mods wouldnt have time to look through and approve every single post! after all, we are all only human. but what would it accomplish?

There are quite a few posts that go through every day here on the site. Moderators volunteer their personal time to work around the site. Having to approve every post would take more time than I think most of us have to spend on here.

I feel the way it works now is fine. Sure there are pointless posts and the usual fluffy forum. Overall its fine. The rules about swearing and fighting keep things civil, and when it does get out of hand or serve no purpose, the mods can put a stop to it. Edits on articles and comments on store products need approval, but the forums is pretty much an open discussion. Putting a middle man filter would send a lot of people away.

It would actualy make less work. Once a post is approved by a mod then the next mod doesnt have to read the post unless they want to.

The Mods' responsibility, as the Site Administrator has informed us, is to enforce the rules here on the site. So we would deal with any posts that contain profanity, are antagonistic/disruptive, or contain personal information, etc. It is not the Mods' responsibility to insure the accuracy of the information in the posts, nor do we have the time to do so. Deciding whether the information in a post is true or not is up to the site member reading it. Use your common sense and don't rely on others to do your thinking for you.

Okay i meant new threads so i guess the mods would have to go back and read the comments anyway. But still, i think its a good idea. Remember, the mods used to be members.

Like Lark was saying, we already have a lot of other responsibilities around the site. We are still members, just like you, and we like to take time to enjoy the site, talk to our friends and have fun- just like you. Many, many new threads are started every day, and requiring us to approve them would me that the moderators would have to be online frequently in order to keep up with approving new threads. We aren't required to spend time on the site, we do it in our free time when we can- so I feel as though threads would fall behind.

I agree that it could possibly slow the process down a bit but then the editors would have an easier time catching up on cleaning up the site.

On an individual basis, each person on the website can respond to inaccurate threads with accurate information. No one is required to respond to inaccurate threads, nor should anyone be required to read through every thread and every comment on the website.

Some members will mail a mod whenever they view something which does or might break terms of service, between them and those things that the mods view themselves everything is covered.

If you have a vendetta against inaccurate information, please feel free to police the website's forums. Me? I stick to mostly topics which are of interest to me and/or are Kemetic topics. I read every word of every Kemetic post I come across, and apply any "corrections" that I feel are necessary and if f requested I can give a massive amount of citations for my information.
