Coffee Divination

As I promised, here is a technique and introduction to the traditional fortune telling or forecasting the future by coffee leftovers ...also known as coffee divination...

Here is an introduction and information about the turkish coffee making and preparing that i couldn't describe it so vivid myself...Turkish coffee differs from percolator and instant varieties, in terms of the way it is grinded and served.

Coffee beans are roasted a few times and then grinded very fine. Turkish coffee is prepared in tiny pots called cezve , which can be used to make two cups of coffee at each shot. For perfect coffee, first put two cups of water in the cezve , and then add two spoons of Turkish coffee. When the coffee starts to boil, a thin layer of foam will appear on the surface of the liquid. Using a spoon, distribute this foam among the cups.

Then boil the coffee in the cezve until it foams up again, and break it among the cups. This boiling action gives it its unique taste. Traditionally, each cup of coffee should be served along with a glass of water. Sugar may be added to taste into the cezve right before the cooking stage. One will be asked to specify the amount of sugar when ordering, sweet, medium sweet and plain...This is extracted from " Turkish cultural foundations" -http://www.turkishculture.org

Btw cezve or Dzezve is a little pot with a handle only used for coffee making... And now let me tell you about the technique i use for this particular divination...

After drinking the coffee try to leave at least a half a sip into the cup... to be continue... i will put more details and sorry for this but i guess i started the post 4:13am..not a good time so in order to not be lost my effort i will leave it this way and pls do not comment till its finnished...

Leaving a sip of coffee is important so the coffee sediment can liquidates and become muddy... Why muddy? Read the following...

After doing the up written turn the cup fast upside down on the saucer and shake it clock wise three times if you wish to see your future exactly and if you want the cup to be for love reading shake it clock wise as many as letters has your loved one's name has... ;) Than leave it that way and let it dry for a 5-10 minutes...

After that, rise the cup and place it on a white paper or something for the wet rings on top of the cup to dry and than....See for the wonders in your cup ^;^

If you shake the cup 3 times ( your general reading )-

  • The spot and the side of the cup from which you were drinking the coffee represents your present or near future ...
  • The opposite side is your future
  • The bottom of the cup is reserved for pressing wishes but also where the past and future meets...

If you shake your cup that much times as your loved one's name has-(love reading)

  • The spot and the side of the cup from which you were drinking is your personal side and it represents your true feelings and intentions towards the other...
  • The opposite side is the side of your loved one and represents his/hers feelings and intentions towards you
  • The side where the cup's handle is, is the love side and it shows what your relationship will be like...
  • The opposite side of the cup's handle or the side where you side and the side of your loved one collides is called common side or the side of both and this side represents you and your loved one as one..joined souls...
  • The bottom is for pressing wishes...

The shapes that the coffee sediment leaves are marvelous, they are artistic and vivid..but also can be messed up and unclear, so when you see "un unclear cup" don't even try to bother to see whats there because it means that the person's mind is as same as the shapes inside..He/She has to deal with some certain things and make his/hers mind on what he/she wants before turning that cup upside-down...

Interpreting of the shapes inside the cup

There isn't really any rule about how to interpret the shapes, it's a matter of perception and it matters what the shape means to the person... Anyway there are also certain shapes that mean the same or by my views and teachings...Here are few:

Snake : (when noticed cut its head of by crossing it with your nail)

Enemy (try to decide the nuance of the shape, if you look closely you will notice the subtle difference between the colors and if its pure black than its a darker person, dark haired, dark tanned...); unfriendly person ; someone tries to destroy your plans (if its near a line that links the bottom and the top of the cup which represents your plans...)

Ribbon: (best if its in love cup)

Relationship on the way, is waiting, is to be happen... Solving problems... Ending of problems...

Bird:

With wings wide open- there is some good news if its white and if its black its bad news...

Resting on the "ground"- Some news are hidden from you or there are some rumors about you and it depends on the color if they are bad or good...

Angel- Someone is looking after you , someone cares about you, someone is trying to make the life easier for you...but mostly depends on the shape the angel is near to or the side it is placed...

Tree- Represents your family and the interpretation depends on the shapes around and near it....

House- It also has to do something within your home but it also represents your stability and security...

Boot of high-heel - Refers to a visitor, if its black than its unknown, white known...or if its in love cup and its placed on your loved one's side means that you have stepped into his heart and vise versa...

Heart- If its black-he/she doesn't know how to show his/hers love, feels shy... If its white-He/She is in love with you or also it can represents the love of a friend (Depends of the shapes around it)

Dog- represents your friends....

Note that interpreting only one shape at a time is impossible, the shapes in the coffee sediment are one big story and everything is connected... Also you only have 3 wishes to press at the bottom of single cup...

It is considered bad luck to see your own coffee or to read for yourself but I avoyd that thought and often do... So I suggest all the members to have a cup of Turkish coffee and do this, than post here the results here to share their experience...It will be fun. And if you see something that you don't know how to interpret into your cup post it here...If you guys have any questions about this type of divination also post in here :D

Lets have some fun :D

If you are not a coffee drinkers, this can be done even with hot chocolate ..it does leaves marks on the cup..make sure its white so you can all see the shapes...

And...consider this as a "little" assignment alright? For this WEEK...

PS: With exploring you can increase your level of practice, and with your practice your mind will evolve...

And yes its a Winner, in my alphabet there isnt a W and i often interprate it as Victory or in your case double victory...

And from what you wrote about your cup i say that there are some news to come in your family about something you've owercomed all...Those are good news ;)
