Attart was the benevolent sister. She shared her gifts of abundance and healing, banishing evil wherever it arose. Her heart was devoted to peace, compassion, and restoration. In contrast, Vaalinde (often called Vaal) was consumed by jealousy and malice. She found joy only in conflict and in the suffering of others.
The followers of each goddess reflected the nature of their chosen patroness. Devotees of Attart were kind, nurturing souls who sought ways to heal and to protect others. Followers of Vaalinde, however, were cruel and selfish, reveling in chaos and ruin.
Even their magic bore the marks of their opposing natures. For example, a breakup spell cast by a follower of Attart might gently dissolve an unhappy union, guiding both partners toward more harmonious matches. A similar spell from a follower of Vaalinde, on the other hand, would be filled with vengeance ? causing pain, betrayal, or even lasting misfortune for those involved.
Yet, despite their stark differences, neither sister could exist without the other. The chaos and destruction brought forth by Vaalinde make the light and healing of Attart all the more visible. Without shadow, one cannot truly perceive light ? and so, balance is maintained through their eternal opposition.
