Magic Forums

I have rather simi-compitent ability and skill regarding magic, and I know the topic sounds like rpg-ish but I was wondering. Does anyone know if its possible for onw to, for a chosen point in time, "give up" their magic abilityt to improve spasific attributes. For example be better in retaining school or work knolage? If such a thing is possible I am fine making my own spell, but before I go through the trouble of finding/creating a spell my magic is okay with, i thought i'd get a second oppenion, thanks.
