The votive represents the part of the body that needs healing. It is believed that you can use it as a means to ease the pain, illness, etc by transferring it to the votive. Please as always, keep in mind that this is only to help with small issues. Any major medical condition should be treated by a medical professional.
You can make your own by mixing 1/2c of salt with 1c of flour. Slowly add to it 1/2c of water and mix well.
On a lightly floured surface, knead the dough well. If it seems that it is too dry add a bit of water. If it is too wet, add a bit more flour.
When the dough is ready, ground and center yourself. Begin to shape the dough so that it resembles the part of the body that needs healing.
Focus on seeing your body whole and healthy and the illness, pain, etc going into the votive. When you are done, allow the votive to sit for an hour or so to dry. Carry it with you until the next evening and then bury it.
