How do I use crystals

I've heard that amethyst crystals can heal or at least can help heal, I'm not sure if it was physically or spiritually. How though would I be able to use a crystal for magic and what are some different types of crystals and what can they do.

The energies of various crystals can indeed be used for a wide variety of workings. For instance, I keep a piece of fluorite with me when I need clarity in communications and hematite when I feel anxious and need to ground myself.

This website lists the properties of a wide variety of stones/crystals: https://thecreativecottage.net/healing-properties-of-gemstones/

And our shop here on Spells of Magic has some excellent books on the subject of working with crystals. The book for Scott Cunningham, listed first, is an excellent beginning book on the topic.

Black kyanite is a good healing stone just by holding it in your pocket. Equally grounds, raises energy and any blockages you may have. Another good usage is the stone never holds any negative energy but destroys it.

Amethyst may be one of those good spiritual stones to unlock psychic abilities but not a good grounding stone in my personal opinion.
