Do I absolutely have to cleanse and bless my new Grimoire? So e places say yes while others say no. I really don't feel compelled to .. as long as I'm putting my energy into it

You absolutely do not need to cleanse or bless your new grimoire if you do not feel the desire to.

It’s your path and your practice if you don’t feel the need to then don’t :)

My first book of shadows has a dedication and blessing, but I didn't do that for any of the others. I've sort of dedicated them for specific things [this one is for shadow work, that one is for rituals] but I haven't cleansed and consecrated them. It really comes down to you.

If you want to, you'd do the same as you would for any tool. Use the cleansing method you like best [if it's safe to do so, I sprinkle a little salt water on the item then pass it through incense smoke. If it's not safe, I omit the water] then hold the object and focus your intention into the item. You could say a chant, or introduce yourself to the tool, then leave it on the altar overnight or somewhere in the moonlight. You could also cast a protection or invisibility to keep it safe [I know plenty of witches who do that]

I second with Nekoshema on this. The main thing that I do, when I decide to bless/enchant my one of ten(?... I've lost count, I have so many :] ) grimoiresis either incense smoke(like Nekoshema), or I put a few protection/illusion sigils on either the cover or first page(mostly to protect them from being seen by my Catholic mom and gramdmother, and to enhance their magickal effects during rituals, among other uses. Luckily, I don't need to charge the sigilsmyself, the bookshelf is right near a window(so I let the Sun/Moon do the charging for me.))
