With Pride month almost at its end. I suggest offering more than Male or female gender.

With such a seemingly infinite number of gender identities in the spectrum, I think it would be hard to figure out what else to offer without anybody feeling slighted. There's always been the option to not choose either male or female, and we can always add our particular gender identity to our profiles.

If Petrarca does this it would probably be; Male, Female, and Other. It would be a lot more simpler and still technically adds the ability to be more than Male and Female genders.

Agreed with ZeusUniverse. Maybe even an "other, please clarify"

Or the simplest answer, if it were important enough, would be to remove the entry all together because all things being equal, no one should care. *nods sagely*

This is probably a late reply, but having just a box to fill-in to type rather than a drop down menu would solve this the easiest in my opinion.

This has come up before. The only reason the gender field was added was because of the "covens" which were really meant to be just special interest "groups" but I thought I'd have some fun and call the groups and call them covens and everyone took the word literally so the whole group thing fell by the side. Anyways, while researching coven leadership, it was common to have a female and male leader be the priestess and priest of hte coven, so again I though, wouldn't it be fun to do that here with the leadership.

So long story short, the way we record gender can't be easily changed without having to rewrite a bunch of coven leadership code

Did you not read what Petrarca said? He made this site himself before a majorityof the current site users were born. Considering he can be so busy I'm really happy to see he was able to respond because it shows hecares in my opinion for what it's worth. Maybe in the future it'll change but I'd say the answer given is the best anyone's going to get.
