Oak typically represents longevity, stamina, prosperity, presence, will, and liberation. Based on that information, your wand would be best used for protection, defensive, strength or prosperity spells. However, a wand is merely a channeling tool and will not hinder any healing energy, although it may be best to consider another wood if you plan to have that be your main focus. Hope this helps!

Very well said, Arrowneous! I would like to add that before tearing any branches, one ought to ask permission from the tree. Branches are similar to limbs for the tree. Before breaking one to create a wand, meditate and ask. Thank the tree as well.

I'd also suggest maybe incorporating other healing related elements into your wand - I have a little sandalwood tip to mine!

Depending on where you live, there are usually a wide range of different species of trees and herbs that you could incorporate into your wand. In the United States, your state will typically have online lists of the different animal and plant species that are indigenous to the area. Otherwise, there's always online sources where you can buy wands of a certain wood for the purposes you'd want them to be for. For example, mine is Gabon Ebony and Bloodwood. Both woods are indigenous of Africa, but I live in the United States. However, both represent balance and utilization of the elemental energies, which is extremely relevant to my practices. Message me if you'd like to know what website I use.

Woods good for healing include: Ash, Holly, Oak , Willow, Black Palm, Black Walnut, Bocote, Bubinga, Canary Wood, Red Cedar, Chechen, Macassar Ebony, Eucalyptus, Kingwood, Lingnum Vitae, Mahogany, Maple, Marblewood, Myrtlewood, Olivewood, Osage Orange, Padauk, Pear, Pink Ivory, Polar, Purple Heart, Rosewood, Wenge, Whitewood, Yellowheart, Zebrawood, and Ziricote.

Does the wand need to be made of various woods? Or just one wood?

It doesn't have to be, but it can be! It can also incorporate crystals or other stones if you'd like too.

I've seen it used in spells for abundance, fertility, good luck, and virility.
