According to Jungian psychology there are two archetypes each gender will have. Anima being the feminine aspect of males animus being the masculine aspect of females. If you want to call upon your more masculine side, if being female, I would invoke the animus part of yourself in ritual. Though through todays standards I am unsure how the anima and animus can be represented for people who are transgendered, but a good Google search can help you if you are transgendered.
Though if invoked regularly you may encounter a personality shift. Though I feel that's what you want.
Though I would also like to say it would take more than one try to shift your personality through invocation. Dont just keep saying the invocation over and over again hoping it will be faster. It may take a while.
Mentally shifting is comparable to shamanic practices of emulating the actions and thought patterns of animals to draw inward their strengths. This was usually done through the use of ritual dress.
Typically the skins/feathers of that animal, and other costuming pieces such as wide flowing sleeves (to mimic a birds wing), Carved masks, and the like. And then using it in ritualised dance that emulates the movements and behaviors of the animal.
Some traditions include the use of halucinogens, but these days that would be best discouraged as people are gamiliar with the negative consequences of addiction and brain chemistry, which would be counter-productive to spiritual journey.
The books are hard to find, but I would suggest reading up on shamanic journeying and shamanic shapeshifting.
Ted Andrews is a bit of a controvercial writer because he writes about native-american practices but through a more modern interpretation. But the information in his books is nevertheless a good source of ideas even if they aren't quite traditional. I would recommend nature-speak, animal-speak, and 'the art of shapeshifting'.
