I don't work with [or believe in] satan, but if you research him you can figure out what he likes and you can set up an altar to him. From there you may be able to find a written ceremony to call on and dedicate yourself to him, but if not you can design your own by taking a dedication ritual you like and altering it to fit your needs [just promise me you won't be sacrificing goats or anything please. Meat from a butcher yes, capturing an animal and killing it no. While a few pagans do animal sacrifice the animals are raised a specific way and there's a big ceremony that goes into it] the basic dedication for any deity is basically the same, cleansing bath, cast circle, light candle representing deity [optional] call deity, state your name and purpose, offering, meditation, thank deity for attending, snuff candle, open circle. You should feel different afterwards, but sometimes it takes a few days until you can really feel the deity in your life.
Most people use Satan as his name. "the Satan" makes it sound like an object, and Im sure he won't appreciate being called an object.
Definitely try to do some magickal works in his name or with him before you make a pact or dedicate yourself. Maybe try some evocations before determining that it is time to make a pact.
I honestly have no experience in this area, but feel the need to advise against it. There are many interpretations of Satan, and many that feel the need to do something like make a pact with him or do some kind of dark baptism tend to think he will give them power. I highly doubt that any energy form above our level would bother with us much in general, and they especially wouldn't give us power for nothing. They probably wouldn't give you power at all. (Im very on the fence about the existance of higher powers to begin with)
