I have made a few lotions and home remedies for skin issues [dry skin mostly, curse you eczema] I remember the first one I ever saw was a May Dew Beauty Spell. It's apparently an old belief you wash your face with morning dew around Beltane for beauty. Never tried it, could never collect any dew for the spell. I feel beauty spells fall into natural remedies and illusion magick. Like they work, but it's probably more to do with the items you're using.
I've had a bittersweet experience with beauty spells. Let me preface by saying they work, that's for sure.
The day after I casted my spell, I received loads of compliments. For around 2-3 months I kept consistently receiving compliments. However, in my past experience I feel as if the spell wore off quickly and I had to continuously recast. Also, in my past experience, the spell does not translate into images - the majority of those I asked told me I looked better in real life, and when I asked why, they themselves didn't even know why. I'm assuming that it was because of the spell. I also found that I was glanced at more often, and sometimes people would not break the glance even if I made eye-contact.
Furthermore, the spells I casted did NOT change my physical appearance, but rather the PERCEPTION of my physical appearance by others. The spells I casted were almost illusionary (which could be another reason why it did not transfer into pictures!); they made my face be perceived as more attractive. That's why I never saw the heightening of beauty, but other people did.
When I was in high school around my sophomore year I was a bit depressed and didn't think I was pretty. I did an energetistic way of accomplishing a beauty spell. The spell would basically make it so when people saw me they would immediately consider me pretty.
I would say it worked but I realized now what true beauty is. That is personality. If you believe you're ugly and need a spell to change that take into consideration that if someone needs to notice you because of looks they probably aren't a very good person you want to be with.
