Tea's

I've been experimenting with homemade herbal teas as of late, I'll be sure to post some of my concoctions onto the forum. So far I've made Cinnimon/sage/mint and Mint/GingerRoot. The Mint/Gingeroot turned out the best.

I'll have to try some of those when I can get some ingredients together. I only have some blends from Teavana and maybe I still have Bigelow's Sweet Dreams blend still. I've been more into coffee as of late.

I've been trying to lay off the coffee. (I'm addicted lol) I did a Mint/Cinnimon yesterday, i have the recipie posted on my page. Though, Mint/Gingerroot is really good so long as you use the ginger sparingly.

Finally got around to posting on this forum page lol.

-RoseMerry/ Mint Tea- Great for perking up your spirits or calming you down.

Want something that will lift your spirits and bring you down? Try Rosemerry mint tea. I usually use two mint leaves and two inches of rosemerry stalk per every 3 cups of water. Crush it up in your tea ball, and drop it in your kettle once the water starts boiling. Keep it in for however long you want, (longer for strong tea) and enjoy with sugar, honey, or plain.

Oooh, usually I steep my teas in individual mugs as I go along. I once tried using my coffee pot for the loose-leaf blend I got from a friend through Teavana and that was still good. Hmm... I think I might have a tea ball. I'll have to try and get some rosemary sometime.

My teaball only cost me 4$, it's a great deal if you want to make your own homebrewed teas.

Raspberry/ Mint tea- Perfect for Indigestion or IBS symptoms.

I usually use 2 raspberry's and four mint leaves per 3 cups. Mint has been shown to help reduce indigestion, and, in some studies, cut down on IBS symptoms by almost 50%. (I am Lactose intolerant and have IBS, I have seen less issues with pain and indigestion since working Mint into my diet) Raspberry is loaded with minerals including potassium, manganese, copper, iron and magnesium. It's also rich in b-complex vitamins and Vitamin K. This helps in metabolizing carbohydrates, protein and fats.

WARNING: DO NOT CRUSH THE BERRIES WHEN PUTTING THEM IN YOUR TEA BALL, IT WILL REMOVE SOME OF THE JUICES AND NUTRIENTS.

Once you put the berries and mint leaves in your tea ball and your water is boiling, drop it in and let it steep for, at least, ten minutes. If you want stronger tea, leave it in longer.

I really like to experiment with the herbs I can find in my area (high desert). I often add pine needles, sage, chamomile, lavender, or yarrow to my tea or make a blend of these. However, one of my favourite teas is pine/ ginger/ lemon tea with honey- it's fantastic for colds (lavender is also a good addition).

Cinnamon/sage/mint tea sounds fantastic though, I really like spicy teas, I might add some cardamom or cloves to it.

I live in northern Indiana. So I have to buy a lot of herbs at the local market. The selection sucks and I can't get chamomile locally. (I have to either order online or travel, literally, 60 miles out of my way). I suffice for bagged tea when it come to chamomile. Which makes me sad because I would love to have my own.
