A vision

Not long ago I was having trouble with certain less than natural events involving a few friends. I meditated to try and find answers and received a vision. It was fairly straightforward and clearly a spell however I'm not certain what its true intentions were. This was the vision:

I saw myself standing above my altar and chanting something I don't quite remember. On the altar was an elaborate altar cloth depicting designs I couldn't quite make out but that wasn't my primary focus. There were two white tapers at either end of the altar but in the center was a black surface. I'm not sure what it was but it took up the majority of the space. On top of that were two rings adjacent from each other. As I chanted I circled each ring in a connecting ring of salt, forming an infinity symbol.

I don't recall what I was thinking but it felt like a strong amount of energy flowing through the enchantment. I don't know what exactly I was trying to do but something told me it was supposed to be a protection spell. However it seems far more like a binding ritual.
