I just ordered a pentacle(or pentagram not sure which people call it but the star is facing up,not down)necklace. It has a snake intertwined in it,and the description said it was stainless steel(I am trying to avoid jewelry that would turn my skin green or black). I want to add protection and healing spells to it in order to help me with overcoming depression and anxiety, and to protect myself against psychic vampires and such. I am new to all of this, and don't know where to begin. Any thoughts or advice?

Just going to say this up front, a pendant is not going to help you with psi vampires. Just thought you would like to know that. You can write spells for your necklace to protect you from depression and thoughs kind of things. If you want to protect your self from a psi vampire, practice energy manipulation and learn to make you self a sheild. You want it to be strong because psi vamps can break though a weak sheild. I know because I have done it.
Help from a true psychic vampire.

Daily meditation will help you overcome feelings of depression and anxiety. You can also incorporate charms, amulets, or talismans into your protection magic. You can anoint these items with protective oils, charge them with energy by placing them on an alter or in any sacred space, and/or charge with your own energy during meditation or prayer. Shielding will also aid you in your quest to keep negative energies from effecting you. I suggest you learn how to meditate and from there learn to construct an energy shield around you. This is accomplished through meditation by focusing on the energy which surrounds your body. You infuse more energy into each time you focus on on the shield. This also makes the shield stronger each time you add energy to it.

Meditation helps one to reduce stress, anxiety, and depression through the process of clearing the mind. It's not about having zero thought it's about letting go. It is fine to let the mind wonder a bit during meditation and work through thoughts. When this happens you acknowledge the thought or thoughts and then let them go. After you let go redirect your attention back to the breath and the state you are currently in. If your mind wonders again let it, acknowledge it, then let it go and bring yourself back again. Be mindful of your thoughts and how long you let yourself focus on said thoughts.
