As for guidance with this spell, try researching herbs and crystals that have the magickal properties of protection or blessing. Something I liked to do was to always use salt in my rituals because salt is for purity. There's a simple idea! It all depends on your location, your living situation, and what you can or cannot afford. In fact, you don't need tools, just word, will, and belief. You can create a short rhyme or poem asking your deity to protect your loved one. Then, write that down and burn it outside, and release the ashes to the Earth back from where it came from. There are many simple ways you can write and perform a great spell or ritual.
