do mean to imbue the sword? or do you mean to physically fix it?

There are some great spells out there to imbue, but if you mean to physically fix you need a blacksmith.

I intended to make the blade stronger and a blacksmith can't do that

This isn't Skyrim.

Now, if you mean using a sword in the context of a ritual, then it would vary based on the tradition from the which the ceremony originated from.

You cannot make a physical object like a sword any stronger, longer, etc through the use of magic. Either accept it for the tool that it is or buy a better one. Magic isn't going to change what you already have.

The only magic you need is that of the forge where earth, fire and water come together to make wondrous things.

Boo on your options a sword is just as much as a driving force as a wand, finger or magic circle you should look into Michaels sword spell on here and the origin story of the Norse , both use flaming enchanted swords

Mountian, you can of course enchant a blade so that it will serve a specific purpose. All athames are examples of this.

However, you cannot use magic to mend a broken blade, make the blade better quality, make the sword sharper or in any way change its physical characteristics.
