Knowledge and wisdom. By: ImperatorLT Mar 21, 2013

Ave Fratres et Sorores,
I have chosen to write my first post on the difference between Knowledge and wisdom, I have seen people who consider them to be the same but I disagree, in my eyes wisdom is gained after you have learnt enough, saying this I also have to take account that if you damage your seed of knowledge, you will never TRULY gain wisdom.
"when you begin your journey on the occult you plant your SEED OF KNOWLEDGE, as you grow and develop and walk down your path you begin to NURTURE this SEED, in years you eventually reach the time where your SEED OF KNOWLEDGE becomes a TREE OF WISDOM, if you damage your SEED OF KNOWLEDGE by not studying, learning, practicing you may never receive WISDOM." - Sorore LGT.
These were good and well said words which I enjoyed reading, the difference between KNOWLEDGE and WISDOM is best found by yourself as others MAY* damage your seed, whilst some may assist you in growing it.
(*1. By teaching you fluffy or Fake arts such as transformation, invisibility etc.
This damages your SEED OF KNOWLEDGE)
The Occult is quite a long path and does not stop, but neither does any path.
This path is accompanied by so many pros and cons as well as
Mistakes* and victories.
(*2. Sometimes a mistake can be more nurturing then anything else.
" the wiser man learned from the fools mistake, while the fool payed no attention to his own" )
Sometimes the way we look at a problem can effect our mind and the SEED OF KNOWLEDGE, if you looked pessimistically as something it could damage or effect your SEED, but if you looked optimistically you can nurture it further.

I rather like this post! It has both knowledge and wisdom!
In regard to this, I would like to add two observations. The first is a quotation from Sir Isaac Newton, when the Royal Society declared that he was a genius:-
"I think of all that I know is as a pebble on a beach. What I do not know is the rest of the beach."
The other is something I wrote in one of my notebooks many years ago; I do not know the origin, but I like it:-
"He who knows not, and knows not that he knows not--shun him!
He who knows not, and knows that he knows not--teach him!
He that knows, and knows that he knows--follow him; for he is a leader!"
Yes, I also believe that wisdom is the quality you are born with, but knowledge you gain in life. I met a lot of people who weren't knowlegdeable, but they were very smart and inteligent, and they had that wisdom in their eyes:) And I also met people who knew alot about alot of stuff, but they did not have wisdom at all:)
Also, in some religions, such as christianity, I know that if you want to have wisdom, you must have to ask for it from Divinity:)
Very interestingh topic, thank you for sharing this with us:d
Seeing as this thread was aimed at me, I'm glad I found someone that shares my view that wisdom is something you can be born with. That's the point I was trying to get across, but people were determined to throw dictionaries at me. I feel that even the youngest of Children have innate wisdom, and it can be lost as we grow old.
Instinct to stay alive has every people since they are born untill they die! That means that everybody has wisdom? Wrong, old people really have true wisdom because they experienced a lot of things in life and they know what is best to do:) so wisdom is the result of living, experiencing everything that life has prepared for you! Children are not born with wisdom, kids do not know anything about taking decisions and things like this! I personally disagree with you, sorry...

Apparently what I meant was not made clear enough for you, no reason to get excited and start deciding someone is wrong so quickly.
By "Instincts to live..." I meant instincts we are literally born with such as suckling and grabbing what touches our hands. Most infants eventually grow out of these instincts as they get a bit older.
And obviously you didn't realize that I was the one who originally said people are born with knowledge and wisdom acquired by attention is a choice.
Ex. "You are born with some knowledge, in other words instincts to stay alive."
You were the one who originally said wisdom is what you're born with which you just disagreed with.
Ex. "I also believe that wisdom is the quality you are born with..."
I appreciate you however, eventually agreeing with my original statements. Even though you thought you were effectively arguing it shows you still learned something. :)

I would disagree with both views. You are not born with wisdom, nor is it aquired through time and experience. Wisdom is when you stop listening to emotions and desires and start listening to that inner voice, that higher self within. When that happens, young or old, you will speak with wisdom.
Oh, and those that have it don't make a big deal out of it. "Chopping wood and carrying water".
