I don't believe in classifying magick black or white.

I think it depends on the intent of the person, and whether their intent is good or bad subjective to their own perspective. What is "good" for one person may be "bad" for another, so it's not so easily categorized.

However, some people like labeling magick or classifying it down into groups.

Well most of the time people clasify magick by colors but not everybody. The reason there is chaos in the world today is most by all of the disconcerned there is in the world; We culd accomplish it if there were more u nity and open minded people.

This is just my opinion and hope you can consider this idea.

I am most certainly with Personified on this one. I dont see a good or evil cemented magic. They are subjective. Our perspective is what defines those things to us personally.

I personally feel that the terms black magic and white magic are quite offensive to most. What I have noticed in my many years is that those terms are mainly used by those who are uneducated/ignorant to actual traditions and path specific teachings. Usually used out of fear, as you will see many of those who use black magic are fearful thinking that it means something harmful.

One thing I also believe is that people are not just one thing through out their lives. Not always happy go lucky not always bitter. Everything changes.

I personally do not take a side for white or black magick. The white and black concept comes majorly from the concept of white being good (Innocence, purity) and black being bad, or dark (Death, curses). I believe magick is neither "good" nor "evil" but both. I personally cannot choose a side because magick is dangerous as it is. Color wise, I solely practice White magick because I am a good witch. I do not believe in the bad magick, as in I don't believe anybody should practice it, unless their matron God/Goddess requires it then by all means follow their word and wisdom.
Blessed be and much love and light

Balance is the key to power and magick. You can use the illustration of a hammer. Its simply a tool. You can use the hammer to build a house for someone that has no home. Or you can use it to hit someone and kill them. Magick is just a tool its how you use it that makes it black or white. You cant have a light without a dark. For even a white snowman will cast a dark shadow.

Well said all...It's like Coke or Pepsi, a simple choice based on your personal preference. Just because some of us choose to walk on the other side of the street dose not make us "evil" nor does following the path of light instantly make you a "good person"...

I agree with all the above posts. A good example is most would say a spell they could cause death would be black magick and the same goes for a spell against free will but what if you killed someone about to commit murder or convinced someone not to commit suicide or as already mentioned murder with a so called black magick spell? The same concept as the saying guns don't kill people people do goes for magick. It's the intent of the caster rather than how they cast or what they cast.

I think this is a hard topic and there is no right or wrong as we all have different beliefs I think it depends on the user who is casting the spell )O(

in my opinion, there is some magic that would harm someone, whether the caster or the person the magic is cast to. however, even though in the path of wicca their rede says "harm none", i think there might be an exception, such as if you are defending yourself or someone else from someone who wants to harm you or them. i'm not very experienced, feel free to correct me on that if i'm wrong. that's just what i believe. i do also agree that not all black magic practitioners are all bad, (i've met some who are kind when i talk to them) just the same as white magic practitioners aren't always kind and good. (i myself have had my moments where i didn't want to be kind because i wasn't having a good day). if you ask me i see them as two different moods of magic but also equal to each other. what i mean is that you can have a good day and you'd do more good and positive magic, and other days you are angry and would probably do magic that would be harmful. basically i see white and black magic as just classification of spells. the white is for all the positve and good spells and everything, and black is for all the negative and harmful things, like curses and spells that would do harm.
