Voodoo is as real as any other type of spell. Magic does not limit itself to one precept, nor does it take a certain order of events to achieve it. Magic is the raising of energy and the directing of one's will to accomplish a goal. The tools used and the manner in which one goes about to obtain the goal is completely up to the practitioner casting the spell.

I'm not vodun...but I can really sympathize with them because I personally become frustrated with how often people misunderstand.
Voodoo/Vodun is a RELIGION. Not a magick style.
Hoodoo is a magick style that is simply folk magick. When the Africans came to America, they related to the Native Americans, shared information, and were also exposed to Christianity, and this all mixed together to give birth to the New Orleans/Louisiana Voodoo and Santeria. Hoodoo is merely these religions' way of saying "low magick" and is a mix of the 3 religions (original African Vodun, Native American, and Christianity).
If you find this evil, you are ignorant and either openly believe whatever you are told by people or what you see on tv and read in fictitious books.
Spells and rituals are spells and rituals. Regardless of what culture they come from. They work based off of the capability of the caster and the probability of the goal being accomplished.
