kts make a great point.

Those who are experienced and well educated in magical theory, science, religion, etc. will often be attacked as eagerly by folks who are quick to call others fluffy. And why? A great example is the idea that summoning is rude or "wrong."

This "new" idea that summoning is cruelty and arrogance and so forth. Many an experienced practitioner will be belittled for practice that dates back thousands of years, involving the evocation and binding of a spirit that actually prefers this method of respect being displayed.

And yes, the entity will often enjoy this sort of respect. I say this out of experience.

The flaw comes in the semi-experienced who are quick to think they know everything and the ignorant who give in to fantasy. There are many of us who labor to turn down the fantasy and try to educate, but to be honest there are far more of the others. It is exhausting to try to keep up.

When I have the energy, and see a post by someone intelligent enough to possibly grasp what I respond with... I respond. Otherwise, they can feel free to wallow in their ignorance. Their parents should have been able to teach them the difference between pretend and reality.

I don't care what people wish to believe in, even if it is the Tooth Fairy or Santa Claus. Belief can be a very wonderful thing and no one should disrupt that unless it is somehow destructive or harmful. But I step in when they claim to be these things or think they can transform into them. That is when the line is crossed between belief and delusional.

And to define delusion I'll quote wiki (not the best source but in this case it covers my point)

"The psychiatrist and philosopher Karl Jaspers was the first to define the three main criteria for a belief to be considered delusional in his 1913 book General Psychopathology. [2] These criteria are:

(1)certainty (held with absolute conviction)
(2)incorrigibility (not changeable by compelling counterargument or proof to the contrary)
(3)impossibility or falsity of content (implausible, bizarre or patently untrue) [3]

Furthermore, when a false belief involves a value judgment, it is only considered as a delusion if it is so extreme that it cannot be or ever can be proven true (example: a man claims that he flew into the sun and flew back home. This would be considered a delusion)."

Now sure, people can argue we are all delusional, but when you look at magick as a spiritual relationship, application of psychology and/or supportive of scientific laws, it no longer is "delusional" but then crosses into faith and personal opinion. To say we are delusional would mean that every priest, deacon, nun, reverend, minister and monk in this world is equally so. And that would cause a ton of problems!

This (to me) is the defining line between fantasy fluffs and the "sensible people".

@ WhiteRav3n- no problem.. thank you also for liking my qoute.. lol.. well actually, i've been into judgement also before i've come to this state.. i've heard lots of side comments that i will never become one of them (especially that necromancer in our town).. but to be honest with you guys, when i first came to this site (when i was still a beginner-actually i'm still a newbie) i was only attracted to the spells here because there are lots of different spells and i've tried some of them.. but then again i realized (because of you guys) that in doing spells, it is really important to make your own because you have your own vibrations there.. i've really learned the basics because of your undying devotions to educate others.. -i'm just sharing my story here.. lol..

DON'T YOU WORRY GUYS, I'M SURE THOSE WHO COME HERE LIVING IN THEIR FANTASIES WILL SOON REALIZE AND BE AWAKE ABOUT THE TRUTH BEHIND THE CRAFT.. ITS JUST A MATTER OF TIME.. JUST KEEP DOING WHAT MUST BE DONE.. JUST KEEP GOING AND HELP UNTIL THEY REALIZE THEIR OWN MISTAKES.. DON'T LOSE TEMPER TO THEM.. THEY ARE JUST LIKE KIDS WHO NEEDS TO BE DIRECTED TOWARDS MANHOOD.. AS KIDS KNOW NOTHING YET ABOUT THE WORLD UNTIL THEY GROW UP.. THEY REALLY NEED YOU GUYS.. DON'T TURN YOUR BACK ON THEM..

DARKEST BLESSINGS TO ALL OF YOU MASTERS..

Well, the caps were painful.

But other than that, I very much welcome fighting against any sort of delusions. Even if I don't think they will learn, I will eagerly debate, argue, or fight against someone trying to spread their ignorance and delusion around. This is the manner in which cults of a most malicious nature can be born. This is the way people are lead astray.

Magic is a search for knowledge, no matter how much most people see it as a means for love spells, money magic, and otherwise getting what they want. There is little more offensive than someone refusing to learn, and yet clouding other people's thoughts with their lies and delusion. Particularly when it is the impressionable youths who are eager to learn that are so frequently misguided.

I did not mean to imply that I would ignore such things. Only that for the most part, it is clear when it is worth speaking up to an individual or not.

I whole-heartedly agree with what you are saying, I think that in todays world of media blitz and daily bombardment of imaginary entities, people tend to believe what they set their minds to,even if it is an non existent entity. I,ve explained the legend of Vlad the impaler Tepische, whom Bram stoker used as role model for the nosferatu, and how the ignorance of the peasantry gave rise to the legend of the vampire. The truth is hard for some people to accept but eventually it gets accepted.

All I know is I've heard "I/us who follow the True Path" and I find it to be offensive!! How presumptuous, for you to assume your "path" to be the only truth. This so called "fluff" you all are referring to is how myths are born and with out people who believe in them they would be lost forever in time. Every religion is true one way or another. It is true when understood metaphorically. But when it gets stuck in its own metaphors, interpreting them as facts, then you are in trouble. and I leave you with this "Myth is much more important and true than history. History is just journalism and you know how reliable that is."— Joseph Campbell

I got the one about the lycan. My response was
I dont think people can literally turn into a creature. I think that may be a portrayal of the movie industry to sell movies. There was a time when people thought they saw these mythological creatures and even thought they turned into them, but history has stated this was likely do to a mold called Arogot that grew in wheat.
There was a time called the summer without a summer. During this period there was a lot of rain and the wheat did not have time to dry before it was harvested. When the wheat was used to make bread, some of the people became ill and began to hallucinate. They believed they had turned into creatures like wear-wolves etc. some people believed they saw the devil which kicked off the Witch Hunts again in the upper north eastern US.
People didnt understand what was making others ill at the time so they likely turned to superstition and this is where a lot of the creatures originated.
I was going to write a post about mythological creatures, but I havnt had time yet. I think if a post is put up on it and others refer people to the one post every time someone makes a claim, it will server its purpose without coming out and starting an argument. A post like this doesnt condemn anyone and it gives historical and scientific data to validate a claim.
I am bothered by some of the allegations and feel some make us look bad. I also understand why my family avoided people calming to be wiccan as there are many misconceptions.
Just my thoughts.

The people asking about it appear to be young kids also, so they would believe they can become mythical creatures.

What I dont like is when people who post forums asking for help being a mermaid, vampire etc they but their points across as facts and if you try and give advice or put your opinion across they don't want to know.
