Looking 4 Coven

I am looking for a Wizardly related coven, so far from what I have looked through on this site, one does not exist. If I am mistaken and this site is more geared toward witches/wicca/pagans/and general magick, plz let me know and I will use this site for what it's worth.

Further more, if such a coven does not exist here, does anyone know where I could find one, or wizardly council. Much appreciation. Or if anyone knows how I could go about getting one started on here, that information would be greatly appreciated as well.

Thanks,
Glim

Guild of Mages would have been good for you, but we're closing now.

From what I have seen, "wizard," "witch," and "mage" are all just terms used to describe a spell-caster, but everyone has different meanings. Some say they are ranks that you obtain as you get better, others say they define what you work with, still others say that they have no definite meaning as everyone seems to think they mean something different. I think that last one is most likely.

My point is, maybe you should explain to us what you define as a wizard. After you do that I'm sure I can help you find a place that suits you and if not we can try someplace else. Otherwise, according to your experience level, I may be able to help you create a place for the people you are looking for. It would be a different website and would probably start small, but it's a start.

Is there any particular reason that Guild of Mages is closing? I had looked at that some just last night/this morning, and did think it would be a good one to join, aside from one little detail of which I'm not online quite as often as the application stated one should be.

As far as my personal experience goes, I have grown up always interested in magick. Initically it was geared more towards Egypt related things, but as I got older I started realizing just what all is out there. Unfortunetly due to college I haven't been able to be as focused on anything in particular, but have rather read things from time to time.

As of Sept 19th this year I consider myself fully a Wizard after following a self dedication ritual found in "Grimoire for the Apprentice Wizard" by Oberon Zell-Ravenheart.

As far as skills/spell casting goes. I find my skills to be geared more towards information(in some form, not 100% sure). I haven't been one to do much spell casting, but instead more for over all self improvement.

So I guess what I'm looking for in general, is just something like a Wizards' Council, where people(maybe I'm more looking for fellow wizards right now, not sure) can go and share experineces as well as just help each other in general, but that doesn't have like any mandatory "must be active, aka posting x number of times a wk" or such. Just rather somewhere people can come once in a while if they need to, to ask questions, share experiences, share magickal tips, just anything in genarl basically.

As for a place being small, that quite alright with me, since I have come to realize that the wizardly communtiy is rather small(and prob always has been) compared to that of the more mainstream.

If you have any more questions, feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Glim

Reaper, your picture fits your post in many ways.

Glim, I do check the forums periodically, but I also have a life in the real world so often my replies may be delayed. I'll discuss the Guild of Mages topic either in the thread I have just created to give such knowledge to the public or continue the discussion in the private messages we now have going. For this thread, let's keep to the topic.

What you have described is not wizard specific. If you limit yourself to the word "wizard" in a community, you are also going to limit your knowledge. You'll learn more by letting go of such titles and simply choosing to learn about magick and spell casting in general. For that, there are many covens. For wizardry specifically I don't know who to recommend, but for knowledge here is a list.

Raven's Gate
Deep Arts
Higher Magicks
Path of the Shaman
Spirit Seers
Dragon Magick
Possibly Council of Earna, but I've heard that they've gone downhill since Faust was removed.

You'll find that in most serious covens you are expected to post at least once a month, at most three or four times a month, unless you have an excuse(such as only having access to the computer a few days of the month and not always being capable of browsing freely).

For a less serious coven, it's kind of sad to categorize it this way, but I would suggest any of the larger covens. I've noticed that the larger the coven the less removing they are of members; they monitor the member behavior less which means the members get away with more and stay longer. This often leads to newbs posting false information or inactive members simply raising the coven's popularity status. Naturally, not all of the larger covens are entirely bad nor do all suffer from the problem of newbs acting all-knowing, but seriously if you are here for information the one coven I urge you away from is Spell Casters. Everyone is put on the council and so often the "wise and all knowing masters" go there when the experienced priests and priestesses push them away(they see through the "master's" disguise).

Not really. I'd rather we stick to the point of this thread. However, if you desire a conversation between yourself and I, you are free to send me a message anytime you like.
