Annoying for sure. Just report them, block them, and move on with your day.

As stated in the rules for the live chat, "...this is not a dating site and if I make any advanced or offers in the public chatter I will be gagged and the gag will not be removed." This clearly states that this is not a dating site. Any unwanted advances should definitely be reported, or blocked at the bare minimum. I hope you stop receiving these unwanted messages soon.

Using the site as a dating site is against the rules and terms of use. If someone is sending you inappropriate mail, report it using the feature in the mail they sent to you, then contact a moderator immediately. The report option should be in the large text box below the portion where you can read their mail.

It should look like this:

Delete :Click here to delete this message- This action will immediately and permanently delete this message

Ignore :Click here to block all mails from (Insert Username Here)- When you ignore a person, any future messages they send you will be automatically deleted. You can unignore the person by returning to this message and clicking the unignore link.

Report :Click here to report this message- Report any messages which are abusive, harassing, or otherwise inappropriate. When you report a message, moderators will be able to read your entire conversation with the other person and make a decision is action is needed.

Click the Report button on any mail that is inappropriate, makes you feel uncomfortable, etc and the moderators can then review that mail and take the appropriate action.

As said above, this isn't a dating site, but some people chose to ignore that. As Misanthropy said, you have three options, and depending on how you feel about the situation you can choose which works best [personally, if it's a random person asking me to date them, I block and report because I don't want them going after other members]

Sometimes our members receive harassing, inappropriate, or threatening e-mails. Understand please that we do not tolerate that on this site. Here is what to do about such things:

1. Block the person from sending you more mail by clicking on the "Ignore" tab beneath their message.

2. Save the message in your "Default" folder (This will happen automatically if you do not intentionally delete it.)

3. Send an e-mail to Petrarca, the Site Administrator, at https://www.spellsofmagic.com/profile.html?profile=1&t=b... and tell him what has happened. He can then take a look at the e-mail in question and take the appropriate action.

Sadly, much as we don't like people like this on Spells of Magic, the Moderators cannot take direct action unless they can actually see the e-mail, only Petrarca can do that, so if it is an e-mail then the person who can help is Petrarca.

I find it very upsetting that people send these types of messages when it is clearly documented and visible that this website is for magic and sharing knowledge or for those coming to learn magic and people try and come to creep on people when its not acceptable behavior

It’s sad because there are not really any sites like this and I view as a place for fellow Wiccans, witches, and occultists to come together and grow in knowledge and friendship but then you have people that think that this is a free dating site.

It is unfortunate that some people use whatever platform, situation, or plane of existence they are in to make sexual advances on others. It's predictory and a sign of mental illness or extremely ill manners. As stated above there are actions to take if unwanted sexual advances are an issue while on our site. Please remember to save the mail you receive, do not delete the mail that is sent for it is evidence for the admin to look at. Note the time and date if you are sent inappropriate personal messages in the chatter and then contact a moderator or Pet directly. This is so the chat log can be looked at for the evidence needed to handle the situation. Please try not to take these things personal for these things happen to a lot of us and after all my years in the world I honestly don't think it will go away entirely but it can hopefully be made better with how we combat the issues. Blocking works wonders, ignoring does too. Even if you inform us there is no reason for you to engage with the person violating site rules. Remain calm, forward the info along, and then let this bull go <3
