Yes, but I suggest you leave them white.
White candles can be used for anything you want. They successfully replace any other candle.

You should leave a candle as it is, in my opinion, because if you are asked for say a red candle for a spell, and you pain the candle red, you would know it is white on the inside, so I would suggest just buy them the color you need, candles aren't really expensive these days.
