I jumped in the river, what did I see?
Black-eyed angels swam with me
A moon full of stars and astral cars
And all the figures I used to see
All my lovers were there with me
All my past and futures
And we all went to heaven in a little row boat
There was nothing to fear and nothing to doubt.
After being born and raised in a Catholic family, I underwent many changes and transitions. Disenchanted with a lot of the hypocrisy that I witnessed growing up, I fell into a long period of agnosticism. During this time I was exposed to more Eastern philosophy and religion, yet never engaged or committed to anything beyond surface level investigation. Towards the end of this period, I fell more into the curiosity of the left path, which again was mostly surface level. I came out of this time of wondering when I met my wife, and committed to Christianity for many years. Early on, this helped me out of a very dark time and assisted in a lot of recovery. As time past, I again have become more weary of the political affiliations that always seem to force a side. I also struggled with the generalized treatment of anything magick or pagan being deemed as the devil?s work. As I result I began personally and privately investigating Wicca. Being that I was exposed to the concept of Wicca by distant relatives growing up, the concept always stayed in the back of my mind. Now that I am older and able to dictate my path a little more, I believe this is the right time to finally explore this path. Currently, I am reading Wicca: A Guide for the Sole Practitioner by Scott Cunningham. So far it is a great read and introduction. I love the concept of being able to choose what works best for you within the general framework of magic and the deities. Being that I hope to connect with others in a somewhat anonymous manner, I have created a profile here at SOM. I look forward to connecting with others engaging in the same journey.
I am at a very introductory stage in learning and understanding Wicca. As I learn and understand more, I hope to provide more specific paths that I am following. Even though I stated a prior curiosity in the left path, I currently do not believe in using our powers for evil or harm. Rather I believe in the healing and positive use of magick and rituals.
As I said, I am at a very novice level and am still understanding how to cast spells and use magick.
I do have a very strong connection and sensitivity energy that surrounds us in both the physical and spiritual planes. Probably my strongest attribute that I hope to better understand are very strong and often timespredictive dreams. These dreams sometimes have a lot of symbolism that require a lot of deciphering, yet I believe in the importance in dreams as I believe they offer a direct connection to our unconscious realm that is difficult to access during our waking time in the physical plane.
