It's a VERY big bonus, if you keep a migickal diary on what you do in your magickal workings...or, when you write a spell in your book of shadows, leave the other side of the paper empty and
write in it what you tried, what you learned, when casting spells and rituals, write in every correspondence like: what stage the moon was in, the time, date, what you used as tools and ingredients and so on...that way, when you look back on what you've written, you can learn what correspondences suit you best....what day, what time, what stage of moon, and so on...
I prepared a little preview on what a page in this kind of diary would look like for you!
You can use what you did as a header of the page
so it all looks like this (these are all examples you write your own info in of course!):

Prosperty spell/healing ritual/Create a talisman

Time: 11.59pm

Mood: Optimistic, happy, angry, hateful, ect...

Moon stage: Waxing

Materials: Poplar wood, clovers, blessed water, ect...

Tools: Sandalwood incense stick, green candle, athame, wand, cauldron, ect...

Place: My room

Who was with me: My sister

Chant: -whatever you chanted-

Deity: What gods/goddesses you called on in the spell

Sign: The moon was in Scorpio

Specials: I made a parchment spell, in wrote in theban font.

A few days later, you look all this up, and write if the spell worked, if it didn't, your thoughts on it, possible side effects of the spell, how you felt after you casted the spell (if you felt any pressence, did you feel it will go wrong ect...).

hope it all helps!
Blessed be!
