There are multiple ways to use dandelions for heartburn. Start by digging up your dandelions from a pet free and pesticide/chemical free area. Make sure it is also not near a road side due to vehicles exhaust. When digging up the dandelion it is easiest to dig a few inches down on one side to find the majority of its roots. Then pull the entire plant out.

Rinse the plants then soak in a tub of water a few minutes at a time. With your hands gently move the plants around to release any dirt or rocks. Drain the water and refill until the water remains clear. Then follow directions for either option 1 or 2.

Option 1: Dandelion root tea
boil 1 quart water
turn to a simmer and simmer for 1 minute 1 tsp of finely chopped dandelion root.
remove from heat and let stand for 40 minutes.
strain
Drink 1 cup to prevent or eliminate heartburn. Drink up to 3 cups per day.

Option 2: Dandelion Tincture
In a jar place 1 cup of fresh dandelions for every 2 cups of 90 proof vodka that is added.
When the tincture is ready use 2-3 drops 3 times a day.

NOTE: The nice thing about tinctures is they can last 3-7 years depending on how you prepare and store them. Additionally, they are condensed version of the tea and are more versatile in how you can consume them.

Herbs take time to build up in your system, especially tonic herbs. The longer you use this at first the less you will need to use it in the future. I recommend using it as directed for 3-4 weeks. Then, only use 1 dose when heartburn occurs. repeat as needed.

WARNING: Talk to your physician about possible interactions with prescriptions or pre-existing conditions. For example, because dandelion stimulates bile, people with blocked bile ducts or gall bladder issues may need to avoid the herb.
