Hi! It might help if you provide the spell or ritual where you saw a "directional candle" be mentioned so that we can help you understand what it means in the context of the actual working. It sounds like you might be referring to a candle in a ritual meant to be associated with one of the cardinal directions (North, South, East, West), which is often done to call upon that aspect of nature in a spell or ritual, but more context would be helpful.
it was a Google generated AI answer I got from google when I asked - "ritual for connecting in the afterlife with your pet". Unfortunately I can not find that link/Bookmark anymore. I think as well as those Directional candles there was a mention of also lighting 1 Black candle.
I personally wouldn't necessarily trust the Google AI answers just because they're AI-generated, while many rituals exist online that were crafted by reliable people.
However, for a simple ritual like connecting with a pet, I think directional candles either meant candles to symbolize each direction as part of the ritualwhich is a common component of many rituals, so that all elements and directions are called upon and worked withor in the sense of a candle that would help guide the ritual in a certain direction. For example, you can select different colored candles based on the intention of your ritual.
Without the full context of what it said, it can be hard to speculate, but that seems to be the most reasonable conclusion based on what you mentioned. I also tried to have the Google AI generate something similar to me to no avail.
Also, I do wish you luck with your spell! If you're trying to find one to follow, I would recommend some research on how to identify if a spell is reliable and then some research on pet related spells. If you're trying to build your own spell or ritual, it can help to research the symbolism of different colors, herbs, and other materials so you know what you might want to use.
Here are some spells from this site that I took a quick look at that seem potentially useful. I did only skim these, and some spells on here aren't always perfect, so be sure to review them carefully and see what might work best:
Also if you want to do a ritual to connect with a pet, you dont really need directional candles. If you absolutely must have one I strongly recommend a single white candle.
Holding onto an item or picture of your pet would also be effective in connecting you to them.
Directional candles are usually just the color of the element associated with a specific direction for example; since Fire is associated with the South you would place a red candle at your South, a Green for Earth at North, a Blue for Water in the West, Yellow for Air in the East and Purple in the Center for Spirit. Some might use White to represent Light and Black for Darkness. It depends on the tradition however like I mentioned earlier for your ritual, a simple white or purple will do.
Why would you even connect with a pet? The undisturbed entities of animals only consume, just as they did in life. if it comes to that, perform rituals with a deceased person, it will be more useful.Candles are used to increase vibrations in the area of your energyinformational cocoon. This is due to a slight increase in temperature. Additionally, the flame is a tool for "recording" your thought form. This will increase the efficiency of the ritual, but there is no point if the idea is initially a failure.
ZNS, I am not sure why you are being judgmentalabout this person wanting to connect with a pet. They asked for help. If you aren't going to give it then keep your thoughts to yourself.
Aside from that, Sylvie and ToxicHydra provided good advice :)
Pets are not some random animal especially if they are a dog or cat they would still recognize their owners and sometimes might even become a guardian for them after death.
Reaching out to a pet is no different than reaching out to an ancestor.
grimalkinirl, I provided the best assistance for someone looking for information about magic in AI. after death, the animal is a parasitic spirit, lower than the spirits of the eighth order. There is a practice where a hybrid is created based on the spirits of places and animals, which the mage uses for their own purposes. However, in this practice, the still-living pet must be "transferred" to the astral plane forcibly, and the spirit must be attached to it. This results in the spirit of the place gaining energy through its fusion with the pet, and the spirit begins to actively communicate with the mage, as it remembers the energy from the pet. However, this is not a foolish summoning or tears for a deceased dog, but a deliberate practice.
ToxicHydra, " no different than reaching out to an ancestor" - Do you think a once-living person has the same interface as a dead animal? I refer you to an ancient manual on practical magic, which contains many tips on practicing magic. It is called the "Old Testament": Genesis, Chapter 2: "The Lord God formed all the animals of the field and all the birds of the sky from the earth, and brought them to man to see what he would name them, so that whatever a man named every living creature would be its name. And man named all the livestock and birds of the sky and all the animals of the field, but there was no helper like man."
But you called out the Abrahmic texts as been falsified on our last post.
While I agreed on there, I disagree with you here. If OP's belief system permits this there is nothing wrong with them doing it especially if they have safeguards in place. Animal spirits might be a bit lower than that of man but theyre still able to be called upon either by the method you mentioned or from one of the hundreds of other methods.
Even a basic prayer could work if OP had a deep enough connection with their pet. There is not only one truth nor is there only one path.
