That does not include past scams that were ignored months ago, rule violations, and threatening comments against users who called out misinformation.
If the current mods do not care enough about this site to simply click on the only active area to ensure people are following the rules and not being scammed, promote one of the active users in that section to keep an eye on things.
I do not want to be a mod, so do not give the position to me, but you should be able to see active users who are genuinely trying to fix this site. They deserve something for their efforts because it is more than I have seen from most of the mods recently.
They've certainly gotten pretty bad again. I try to send the links to Lark or Misanthropy since they seem to be around the most. I hope the site endures, it's been a safe haven for a lot of beginners and adepts.

Of course we care, sometimes life gets busy though and the mods here are volunteers so moderation isn't and shouldn't be their top concern.
But that's not to say the work members do isn't appreciated either. Posting that comments, or the spells/articles themselves are spam is usefulfor newbies. And posting spam links in the forums can yield better/faster responses since those would be visible to all mods.
So please keep up the great work of reporting when you see something, it will get addressed eventually.
I understand this is volunteer and people are busy. I only come on the twice a week at best. But saying real life gets in the way becomes an excuse when months go by with no changes and the same spam is there. I log on, I check the spells and click on any new posts, I then check the articles, and the forums. The forums might have one new thread, and there has not been a new topic in the articles since July. Most days it takes less than five minutes to check the site. If the mods are so busy they cannot take five minutes out of their schedule, perhaps make one of the active users who tries to moderate the spells section a mod so you can take some work off the current mods.
I know you can reach out to an active mod about a comment and they will quickly resolve the issue, but that assumes their time is more valuable than our own. They volunteered to do more work for the site. Regular members are here to have fun. We are not meant to be unofficial mods. If this was an occasional issue, I understand. I have just there has been a lack of care and effort from the staff, especially over the past year. I am impressed to see Pet respond, since according to his history his last forum post was August 7, 2024. If the owner of the site is not active, why should we be?
This site has become nothing but pop up ads, scammers, and trolls. If we want new members, make an app or update the site for mobile. As GoldenLion suggested, have an official SpellsofMagic social media to get new users to come to the site. We used to have a YouTube channel. If the current staff have no time or interest in making TikToks and posting to Instagram, that is fine. I do not like social media. However, if you want to bring new members to the site, you need to reach them on their current platforms. With all of the ads on the site, you could pay at least one Gen Z TikToker to run your socials.
And again, I do not want to be a mod, I do not want to be in charge. I am saddened by the wasted potential and infuriated that scammers and trolls can prey on new Witches who came here to learn.
I'm on here every day and catch multiple scammers etc each time I'm on. But it would really, really help if members would report issues to the mods as soon as they see them. Mods can't catch anything, so it would be nice if some of our regular members would post problems as soon as they see them so we don't miss out.
By the way, none of those links you listed contain posts that violate the terms of this site. I did some edits on them and deleted an old user who is no longer on the site. But I saw no rules violations.
They did. The comment section was filled with scam posts and regular members calling out the scam posts. One included a scammer replying to the claims they were in a scammer, in all caps, that they were not scamming people. Did you want one to moderate? Here is a user insulting me and swearing, but getting around it by using z instead of s. It was from three days ago.
I notice you are always active, Lark. After a while, I assume you simply have the tab open in another link and do not actually check it. You are a highly knowledgeable member, and I have a lot of respect for you. If the site was busier, I would understand having regular members mail the mods to take some of the workload. I am on the site twice a week at best. I click the forums, and scroll to the bottom. If I see no new posts, I move to the articles, scroll down. No new posts. I then go to the spells forums where I find stuff like that posted recently. I am not digging through year old content. That was the most recent replies. It takes less than five minutes to check the site for blatant scams.
Did you want something older? Someone replied to a comment on a succubus spell recently. However, if you scroll to the bottom, you will see a comment from a year ago asking a member to contact them on IG, which seems pretty predatory to me.
I am not asking for single person to fix the entire site. I am saying the site is slow enough there should not be a build up of scam posts that last for days before an average users contacts a mod about the issue. Now is the time to breath new life into this site. If SpellsofMagic needs more mods, get more mods, because this is all free volunteer work. As an observer, nobody is on the site and nobody is trying to improve the site.
