Hello fellow witches, wizards, warlock and other magical folk.
I am still a beginner in the craft, but something I've been quite curious about is music magic, especially musical spells. I was wondering if anyone had experience with those or suggestions of ressources to start with.
Any beginner spells to share with me ?
As a gift to you all, I'm offering The Black Rose: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gjZ_EAkydWw a song that feels magical to me; do you have songs that are magically charged to you ?
Music is absolutely appropriate in magic. In fact, chanting, drumming, and dancing are all recognized and efficient methods to raise energy when casting a spell. The coven in which I trained was known in the community as "The coven that sings" because we used chants and songs for a variety of things such as casting a circle, raising energy for magical workings, etc.
Music is important in my craft. There are some traditional chants most circles will sing/chant [We are a Circle for example] but others just give me that witchy feel and I put it in a witchy music playlist. Some make sense [like Celtic-sounding music] but others make no sense unless you're me [Dance in the Graveyard by Delta Rae or Welcome to the Black Parade by MCR. Sounds crazy but I work with spirits and death deities, and these songs help me connect with their energy]
There are also drumming, chanting, singing bowls, dance and trance work that all utilize sound in some way. You can even turn a chant into a song. If you have a favourite song, you can begin your day by singing and moving to that song to set you on a positive path for the day. You could make playlists with a specific intention in mind [an angry breakup playlist could be an emotional cleansing. Listen to it while journalling or doing releasing/healing work around the situation]
The point is to be creative. This is UPG [unverified personal gnosis. it works better when you're putting your favourite herb in everything over rewriting the mythology of a Deity/culture to suit your needs. Harmless UPG] and if it works for you, do it. It won't work for everyone, but the only person benefiting from your craft is you, so do it your way.
