Is a deity reaching out?

I have been reading tarot for about 7-8 years now using various books, social medias, and information I've gathered from here to further my intuition and knowledge. Recently I got a sense that a deity (possibly Loki) was trying to reach out to me, but I've never been one to put any energy towards deities. It's not that I don't believe in them, I just don't know if I have the capacity to maintain that connection.
I'll be honest I wouldn't have even given the thought any weight if it wasn't for tiktok; I had watched a video of someone talking about signs that Loki is reaching out to you one being spiders (there were other signs, but this was the one that stcuk out to me and now i cant find the exact video cause i didnt like it cause i dont want videos like that to find me based on that preference). In the past month I have found like 3 spiders in my room, not little baby things, but like grown cane spiders (I left them alone, so they could still very much be in my room) also when I'm doing my animal oracle reading I've gotten spider enough timesfor me to pay attention to it.

And I don't know if this is just because of the information I've been absorbing from tiktokthats making me feel something that is not there or if something is there and I'm just doing my dillegences not to dive in without the proper research and protection knowledge.

I just wanted to know if anyone else had a similar multiple day encounter with anything like this and if there was any good places for researching all of this. Like i said I never thought of deity work before, so this is completely new to me. The last time I even thought of working with an higher being was when I was transitioning out of my religion, but that was like 3 months into reading tarot and when I started reading is the gauge I use for how long I've been in this type of spiritual mind.

The simple answer is you'll have to ask the deity, as others can make guesses, but no one can speak for Them.

Sometimes They just want you, and this is what happened with me. I had no intention of pursuing a relationship with the gods I now venerate (I was interested in Irish gods at the time), but They tangled Themselves into my life and now I wouldn't have it any other way. They did give me signs, but it was mostly that I couldn't stop thinking about Them which drew me to research more deeply and learn how to engage with Them.

You can refuse Their invitation, but it can be a little like a shamanic calling (though less intense) in that by ignoring your calling to Them you can suffer. When I stubbornly tried to continue down the path I was sure I needed to take I felt disconnected and depressed. When I followed that calling it felt so right and connected.

It's great that you have a sound tarot practice, as divination is the way most of us communicate with the gods, either through tools like tarot and runes, or through methods like dream interpretation and scrying. I have a number of shrines in my home and each shrine has its own set of cards and a pendulum for each deity or spirit (or group of spirits if they tend to communicate as a collective).

I don't know much about Loki specifically, you'll probably find others in the site who have dealings with Him, but if you want to approach any deity I'd suggest learning the religious protocols around that deity. They all have likes and dislikes, things They consider sacred and things They find offensive. It's worth reading up the myths and legends, but also archaeological details of how people worshipped.

I agree. Signs and synchricities are tricky because they are personal. And often they can be tied with many things. For example, spiders can be associated with different gods other than loki. Annunansi comes to mind. Or Neith the Egyptian weaver of destinies. Or, the spider could also be presenting itself to you as a guiding/power animal itself.

From my own experiences, I find that singular signs can have multiple ways of being relevant to you, and can reveal useful things to learn from on several levels. So while some try to advise against over-thinking I personally find value if researching from multiple angles.

I suggest exploring what spider as an animal can represent in life. (For example, the benefits of diligent design and patience but caution against getting caught in your own schemes) along with what God's have associations with spiders and where you might feel like this message/sign is coming from. Its 'voice' for lack of a better way of putting it. Does waking up in the morning with spiders hanging out on the wall staring you 'sound' like a Loki thing? Or does it not feel like it fits?

If you are continuing to be stuck, it may help to make yourself still. Maybe do some light meditation or go to your altar if you have/use one, and just voice your question. Even a simple statement like "OK, You have my attention. I am looking for you, help me figure out who you are/what I am supposed to be learning here."

You might not get a direct response/answer, but it confirms that you are trying, and that you want to make the connections and you have your eyes out for more signs and messages.

I still remember how I performed a guide calling (with help of someone more experienced) and it took a year, almost to the day, for me to finally connect. I kept seeing hints and signs, and getting synchronicities all over the place but I wasn't connecting the dots. I had gotten a bisque (unpainted clay) dragon statue, I got instinctive and very specific needs for the colors I wanted as I dry-brushed it. I started seeing dragon books everywhere, feeling inspired to learn to draw dragons, had old and new dragon movies showing up... And still more before I finally was able to realize what was going on.

So be patient, keep paying attention, ask questions and explore possibilities, and maybe keep a little flip-up notebook handy to jot down unusual moments that stand out. Read back over it from time to time and ponder on if the events feel like they have a personality behind them.
