Hi! Looking for advice on an incorrect reading.

A few days ago, Iaskedmy tarot deck for insight into my near future regarding a local art gallery I applied for. The deck revealed a number of positive cards that lead me to interpret that my work would be accepted for the upcoming exhibition, so combining this, some manifestation practices, and general confidence in my personal abilities, I figured I was near guaranteed to get in.
(I also used some runes/oracle deck for good measure. They provided similar answers/general positivity.)

Imagine my disappointment when I was not selected for the exhibition.

Not to brag, but I consider myself to be a talented artist. There were plenty of candidates that were on a similar (or straight up "better") level that were accepted, yet I also saw some accepted work that made me question how the judges chose them.

Anyways, rambling short -- multiple previous excursions with the deck have shown me that the deck is pretty truthful. Even when I didn't want to interpret cards correctly and see them for what they were. So I have a few questions andlooking for some outside perspective:

  1. Do you think the deck was telling me what I wanted to hear (Despite that I don't think it's done that before), or was I telling myself such?
  2. Was the deck looking at the most likely outcome and I ended up with the non-positive timeline?
  3. Should I re-enchant my deck(s) to "recalibrate" it, and if so, how?

I consider my tarot deck to be an enchanted object in a similar way that one used to connect with telephone operators. They both "flip switches" that provide you with what you're calling for. I consider myself an apprentice reader, but I have improved since it first started as a hobby a couple years ago.

I don't think I had interpreted the cards incorrectly given my situation. I'm thinking I should just take the Land accept it as a one-off. It's not that I'm doubting my abilities as an artist or reader, but at the end of it, I am disappointed that I wasn't accepted into the exhibition.

Has anyone had a similar experience when reading for themselves? Advice or insight would be appreciated.

It completely depends on which cards were in what places in the reading. It may have been positive in general, but it may also have been something more related to not getting into the gallery but another option is there, or promoting your work independently in the mean time will be the better option.

It really just depends on what spread was used, and which cards landed in which position.

I am inclined to agree here with the previous poster. It very well could have been a read presenting another opportunity.

As well you stated the majority of the read was positive but did not go into detail of any negative or disappointing cards within the spread. All cards need be read. A general positive read while promising is not the full picture if there indeed are a few disappointing cards within the spread.

By re-enchant your deck what is it you mean? I never cleanse my cards personally. I like to let my energy settle into them and stay. They seem to have their own personalities in a way, and I enjoy working with my decks, mostly oracle.

But I do "feed" my stone pendulums which are not water soluble with oils. I feed them when I feel my answers are getting crazy, and they seem to need a charge.

The way one would do this with cards, would not use oil as it would destroy the decks. A personal object or item could be laid atop the cards, one you feel holds its own power, and they can be charged in this way. Meditating on them too can add energy yet this method is better suited to individual cards.

Good luck.

I also think it’s possible that the timeline was altered in someway. Apart from being a Wiccan I know a lot about quantum physics so I have a pretty good understanding of time. It could just be that thanks to magic energy or something else, the timeline was set on another course

like someone else has mentioned, i think maybe depending on what cards were pulled, their may have been a better opportunity for you : ) everything happens for a reason

I know my reply is a bit late, but I wanted to add my penny's worth to the pot.

A very wise woman once told me that I must always keep one thing in mind for every tarot reading I do. That one thing is 'the cards never ever tell what Will happen, only what Might'. Everything we experience depends upon the circumstances, actions, and events (or lack thereof) in our lives.

I believe that the only thing that went wrong in all of your readings for the exhibition is that you forgot (or chose to overlook) that. As long as you keep that in mind for future readings, I don't think you will have any more problems along those lines.

Good luck to you with furthering your art career!

I concur with what Fid wrote. From my knowledge and experiences with divinations, they can express that which is forming and can happen if things progress if no action is taken to alter the course. Although not a card reader, I do encounter similar experiences with runes. It is my personal belief that when we are not pleased with what we see in divination, we are able to take action to alter the course of what we are enlightened to through the reading. The point of magick is to be able to manipulate an outcome. Divination shows a pathway, whether or not we understand the course or not. Perhaps things will be clearer later after thinking about it a while.
