Who works with mermaid spirits? What are they like? What do you use to work with them or how do you work with them?
Disclaimer: No "I'm a mermaid", no spells to turn into a mermaid, do not claim mermaids are physical beings, no fluff, basically. No H2O references, no 13th Year references, no Ariel references, no Pirates of the Caribbeanreferences. Want to keep this legit because I'm asking for legit help and I don't want to deal with any fluff on here.
This site has snippets of various Greek sources, which may help decipher the nature of the Tritons: https://www.theoi.com/Pontios/Tritones.html
This one lists some larger tales where they are mentioned:

From what I've seen, they're jovial spirits, who respond to music. They're also guides, and depicted as such in some lore.
They have some comparison to Satyrs and occasionally Centaurs, but "of the sea" in stead. Perhaps this would lend some attributes of the archetypal elements associated with both, but that may not be in line with Greek thought.
Their trumpets are said to calm the sea, but also terrify enemies. It seems the former brings peace, but is more powerful than it may seem, while the latter seems powerful but is more subtle in nature. Perhaps mermaids are more nuanced than some realize.
But this is from a few minutes' reading, and never having worked with them myself.
I havent worked with them perse, but I have left offerings for them alongside Poseidon. I usually lay out some abalone shells along with aquamarine crystals and ocean jasper. I also try to find something related to music and something shiny. I have also known them to be kind creatures and willing to help. Im still delving into this, so I think doing some research if your own and also some offerings and prayer of your own may help to understand a bit better.
Both. Im sort of landlocked at the moment so right now at home. I have some small in home water fountains and I leave them there for now. Whenever I get to visit a body of water I definitely leave some offerings there and thank the ocean for its creations and magick.
