If I may add something, I don't work with Hera, but I think that genuine peacock feathers might actually end up making her angry. After all, one of her sacred animals have been killed to make it, and that too without any real reason (i.e for your own survival, such as for food or something).

Peacocks don't need to be killed to gather their feathers. Feathers can be collected humanely, once they fall from the bird on their own. There are numerous wildlife and animal protection laws in place to stop cruelty and inhumane collection of animal parts, such as feathers, teeth, etc. Anyone caught killing one for feathers would be hit with a high fine and possible jail time.

That said, peacock feathers, art, etc are all reasonable offerings to place for her. I have a friend that actually uses paintings she has made of the animal as offerings and decoration for her altar.

Lovely devotional ideas, but as the Athenians used a lunisolar calendar (the Attic Calendar) rather than a Gregorian one what's the source for the second Saturday of January as a special date?
