Your preferred meditation

Out of curiosity I'd like to hear what everyone likes to meditate on. I don't mean physically although I'd like to hear opinions on how people like to choose or decorate their mediation spaces. But rather several books offer suggestions on what people can visualize during a meditation or offer guidance through some types.

Alternatively I've also seen suggestions for less standard types of meditation like dancing or repetitive movements to being a kind of mentally cleansing effect.

All of these are fascinating but what I want know know here is what kind of visualization's people employ in there meditations, whatever style that might be.

I do not meditate. I will be aware of my thoughts for a period of time or I will listen to music and ride the rhythm when I need to divest myself of the constant chatter in my mind.

In junior high school, which was many, many years ago, I found a book called The Silva Mind Control Method. I used the Silva method for years, and keep coming back to it after three-and-a-half decades. It is called Silva Ultramind now, or at least it was when I got my instructor certification in it. Good stuff, and very well suited for magical practices.

I've been meditating since I was 8. It's very easy for me to sit quietly and get lost in meditation, so I don't really have much in terms of books. However, I've recently [and by recently I mean over the last 2 years] started following guided meditations and meditation music and I really enjoy it. My work is partnered with Headspace so I have it for free, but there are other apps you can use for free. I've also found a number of meditations on youtube that really helps too. Try typing in what type of meditation you are looking for into youtube and you'll probably find one that works for you. Another something I do sometimes is hold an object and focus on that as I meditate. Take something like a crystal and hold it in your hand. Sit quietly with your eyes closed and feel the object in your hand, turn it over, and note if it's hot/cold or grows warmer as you go, if its smooth, rough, or both. just sit there and make note in your mind what you feel [including things like "holding this, I feel calm" or "holding this, I feel a strange urge to clean"] when done, write down what the experience was like. This is more a way to connect with new objects and focus on senses beyond your eyes, but it's still a great meditation.

I normally begin with a body-awareness meditation. I usually lie down as sitting is actually uncomfortable thanks to having an over-curved spine. I begin at the feet, making myself consciously focused on their sensations before willfully relaxing them. I do the same process step-by-step up my whole body.

After that I do a similar process through my energy/aura/chakras, becoming aware of the flow and presence, condition and vibration. I visualize a release of energies that are not my own, releasing them back to their sources with a bit of programming for love and healing. (I'm one of those new-age types after all.)

Finally I focus on the idea of connecting with the highest e energy I can conceptually reach for and let it flow down over and through myself. The goal is to further cleanse, raise overall vibration and stimulate overall flow and balance of energy, especially through my meridians and chakras.

If I haven't fallen asleep by this point, I usually just let my thoughts wander over whatever topics it wants. It gives a chance to ponder through the events of the day, or random recollections of the past, and discover insights and reflections. I have hit some interesting bits of gnosis and Self realizations this way.

On occasion, I might do some energy/aura work inspired through how I consider myself Otherkin. Or shift my attention to an (infrequently successful) attempt at astral travel. But those exercises are less frequent these days.

...Maybe I have just found my new-years resolution finally!
