I've been reading a bit on Dragon Magick. Can any practitioners of Dragon Magick please share their experiences or thoughts on it? It would be appreciated if you did

The path is rather secretive and oathbound, so you'll be able to find beginner information, then you hit a wall and need to work with Dragons to learn more.

I've never had a problem with Dragons, so you shouldn't be afraid. My one warning [which is obvious, but I was a precocious newbie once too] don't argue with them. If they tell you to do something, regardless of how boring or uninterested you are, do it. Don't argue with them. Once when I was new, I was projecting to visit the Dragons on the astral and ask advice. About 3-4 months into my studies I asked them the best way to help my energy work and I was told to balance my chakras. At the time I had no interest in that [I can't remember what I wanted from them, but it was like asking your parents what's for dinner, hoping they would say candy, then getting upset when they said vegetables] So I insisted it wasn't chakras and it was this other thing and they kept insisting what I needed was to balance my chakras and after several minutes the fire Dragon raced over to me and stabbed me in my seven chakra points as he shouted "you will balance your charas or else" and that was such a jarring experience I immediately returned to my body and couldn't project for a long time [which is how I learned to connect with them through meditation]

That's story isn't meant to scare you, it's half to show people I'm not perfect, but also while Dragon's are helpful, they have their limits and they're not under obligation to help [I still don't get respect from fire Dragons after that and it's been over a decade]

On a more positive note, I do have a guardian Dragon who lives in my home, she just flutters around protecting the place. She use to be more active, but now she mostly enjoys napping in my living room. She isn't very large, and she's an astral being, so if people see her, she's usually an orb. Guardian Dragons are typically younger Dragons that protect your home and watch over you while guide Dragons are older Dragons who guide you on your path. You don't automatically get one of each, you meet them along your path, so at first, you'll be dealing with the elemental Dragons. While there are Dragons of all elements, the traditional five are air, fire, water, earth and chaos [while some work with spirit Dragons, chaos is how Dragon Magick works as they can affect the past, present, or future to achieve a goal, and as someone who is very linear in her thinking, it takes me a minute to wrap my head around chaos energy]

I would research Dragons, get a basic understanding of them, as well as have a strong foundation in magick [if you know "the basics" of magick and some advanced meditation, you can do Dragon Magick in my opinion] There are two ways to get started, the more direct is astral projection. Once your project, think of being in front of a cave with two Dragons out front and you will be transported there. Enter the cave and inside will be five Dragons representing each element. Introduce yourself, state your name and why you wish to work with them, then wait for an answer. [I couldn't hear the Dragons at first, so I had to interpret body language and how situations made me feel, so keep an open mind] Once they give their answers, thank them, return home, and leave an offering as thanks for their time [each element has different likes and dislikes, but you can't go wrong with food. If you have a favourite food, offer some to them and leave it outside] The other option is to create an altar in their honour, meditate before it and introduce yourself the same way you would on the astral. Leave an offering on the altar [place it outside later] then wait for an answer. This could take a month [and remember, no answer is still an answer]

The tricky bit with dragon magic is that it is very individual and relies a lot on personal gnosis. Just like with people, Dragons are pretty individual to eachother and can fulfill many different roles.

I would begin where Neko suggests as well. Read up on some dragons, their lore and common roles within stories and culture, and what they tend to represent spiritually. That last one is in itself tricky to do in a general way though, because of their individuality. I found this part most helpful after I had formed a connection with my guide, as I was able to explore something more specific and directly related.

I would add that it helps to put some time into Self-reflection as well. Explore how you want to work with dragons; As spiritual guides? Co-workers in magic? Co-workers in energy working/healing? ...All of the above?

Nekoshema actually wrote up an excellent bit of information that might be helpful and is very worth reading;

I've thrown down a few clumbsy words on the subject as well, which might also help;

https://www.spellsofmagic.com/coven_ritual.html?ritual=3951&coven=578

And finally, I also discovered a youtube video that discusses the Dragon and its role as a story trope. It's interesting, and though not spiritually focused it summs up why Dragons (and draconics) are so hard to pin down and clearly define.

It is this individuality in Dragons that makes walking a Dragon path so mixed. It can be difficult to find your footing for the first while, because information can feel like a tangled mess. But as you start making connections and build a frame of reference it can also be deeply personal as the dragons and energies you connect with also become reflective of your own nature and desires. Every dragon you connect with is not just a teacher in the traditional sense, but also in the reflection of it's form and nature. Similarly to the idea of a spirit-animal, the symbolism behind the form can be fuel for reflection.
